Your role on our team:

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing various financial reporting and forecasting models to support site operations and the financial planning requirements of the company, providing insights and recommendations that will improve operating performance for both residential and commercial managed assets.

In this role, you will:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the on-site property operations within their portfolio to support and manage the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting cycles of those properties' financial performance
  • Ensures timely and accurate production of financial reports and variance analysis (including monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, analysis, budgeting, re-forecasting, etc.)
  • Is a self-starter and takes the initiative to learn underlying processes that drive the financial results (both Accounting and Operational) to properly analyze and support their final financial forecast and budget submissions.
  • Designs, develops and implements analytical models and tools to help evaluate, forecast, and optimize property and portfolio performance including expense and capital analysis
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders throughout the company to understand their reporting and analysis needs and delivers accordingly.
  • Can remain agile with ad hoc reports and analysis as required while maintaining a high standard for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Can multi-task between planned deliverables and unplanned deliverables as they arise. Demonstrates excellent time management skills with the ability to independently prioritize multiple deliverables.
  • Continuously seeks, identifies and addresses opportunities to improve existing processes and models
  • Ensures that the senior management team have received accurate and insightful analysis to assist in making strategic decisions
  • Assists in the completion and maintenance of development pro-forma cash flow models
  • Performs other duties in scope and spirit of the Senior Financial Analyst position

We would like you to have:

Education: Either (B. Comm with a related Accounting discipline) and Accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA) is an asset.

Experience: A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of relevant work experience in the accounting/finance field.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Yardi system is an asset
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a real estate environment (residential and commercial assets)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel
  • Communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
