JOB SUMMARY
The Treasury and Tax Services Associate is responsible for monitoring, validating, reconciling and preparing reports for all bank and excise tax transactions for Hydro Ottawa Holding Inc. and its subsidiaries ("Hydro Ottawa"). The Associate will also liaise with internal/external stakeholders in completing these functions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:
Monitor, review, validate and record all banking transactions and analyze, investigate, and problem solving any anomalies discovered during the month in consultation with A/R, billing, A/P, payroll and other groups.
Complete bank reconciliations within 3 to 5 business days of each month end and ensure all unreconciled items are properly investigated, resolved, recorded and documented.
Liaise with financial institutions regarding bank service charges, discrepancy resolution, account management (e.g. opening/closing bank accounts) and documentation preparation.
Support and respond to daily banking questions from other groups such as Customer Service, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Liaise with external auditors during interim and year end audits, external banking contacts and internal members of various groups to provide requested financial support.
Update, compile and maintain Treasury data for review and reporting, including intercompany indebtedness, credit facilities, intercompany interest and bank interest reasonability.
Prepare and calculate monthly intercompany Cash and Loans Reports for all Hydro Ottawa entities and prepare related JEs within 5 business days of month end for review.
Act as the primary petty cash custodian for Hydro Ottawa monitor other secondary petty cash custodians.
Compile and document more than 20 monthly HST, QST, QST returns for Hydro Ottawa.
Ensure monthly online filing and mailing of HST, GST, QST returns are completed and provided to Accounts Payable to ensure payments are processed and submitted before due.
Provide support and assistance in compiling documents for tax agency reviews/audits of returns.
Perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Recognized accounting diploma or degree program
Several years' experience in treasury and/or banking software combined with demonstrated performance and abilities may substitute for academic qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years bank reconciliation or equivalent experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Proficient in the use of standard suite of office software and electronic banking (e.g., Scotiaconnect), and adept in the analytic use of Microsoft Excel, and Access as well as specialized applications including J.D. Edwards Financials (JDE), and Customer Information System (CIS)
Knowledge of Hydro Ottawa's policies and procedures
Confident and comfortable working in a fully computerized environment and adaptable to various and changing systems
Proven attention to detail and success in working with high volumes of transactions and figures with a minimum amount of personal supervision
Effective verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills
Positive customer service attitude and adaptable to change in process, systems and organization structures
Demonstrated ability to focus on, and contribute as a team member to innovative changes or solutions, which enhance efficiencies and service while maintaining appropriate controls on processes and costs
Analytical skills
Ability to work with high volumes of numbers and figures

English essential, both oral and written
Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
