Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Trust Accountant is responsible for the general ledger account and various bank accounts reconciliations, research and analysis relating to all client related trust accounts. The individual in this position will provide analytical solutions to reconciliation challenges and have a high degree of autonomous behavior. They will have enhanced knowledge about all the departmental money movements and journal entry flows which include clients, brokers and corporate accounts.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Produce and analyze dealer, fund manager, discretionary manager, and life company daily general ledger and bank account reconciliation for all R-Broker and R-Funds accounts and related journal entries
  • Research and provide solutions to general ledger and bank accounts reconciliation unresolved items
  • Prepare journal entries to clear accounts
  • Be responsible for production of monthly regulatory report for each general ledger account and calculation of the margin total in the IIROC regulatory report
  • Collaborate with other department to ensure proper accounting for client related transactions
  • Communicate with various banks when banking issues arise
  • Initiate and formalize documentation of reconciliation processes
  • Recommend and suggest reconciliation process improvements
  • Apply Alteryx application to the reconciliation process
  • Document reconciliation process to facilitate cross-training and integration of new team members
  • Respond to priority or escalated inquiries
  • Have the ability to identify areas of concerns & propose solutions

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • College Accounting Diploma or university degree with Accounting or Finance major
  • Enrollment in the CPA Program (considered an asset)
  • Strength in reconciliation is considered an asset
  • High level of technical expertise with various software packages - proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows including Excel, Word and MS Outlook
  • Knowledge of Alteryx application would be an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to condense large amount of transactional information into a concise solution/report
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Team player with ability to work autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to solve most problems independently, however, may escalate larger issues to next level
  • Fully capable of successfully completing tasks and assignments independently with no or limited guidance
