Job Summary

As the Data Governance Analyst, you will provide expertise for Data Governance spanning both platforms and projects. At the core of the role is a detailed understanding of Data Governance principles and the ability to apply them to meet business and regulatory requirements. Your role is to ensure that data is well documented and managed across RBC Investor Services. You will be called on to find solutions to complicated data issues and lead the remediation.
As a member of a dynamic, fast paced team, this role brings strong data analysis skills and leadership, effective written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic and a demonstrated capability to multi-task effectively. This role requires strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills as well as a demonstrated sense of urgency to respond to changing priorities at times. This is complemented by a positive attitude and a willingness to take accountability for results achieved.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Perform Data domain execution activities as per the playbook steps defined by the CDO for the IS impacted domains to comply with the Data Management and Reporting Policy.
  • Work with business units to perform Data Risk Assessments for the identified critical business processes.
  • Enable data quality checks and fix data quality issues on critical IS Data
  • Perform annual identification and attestation of Data Owners and Stewards of I&Ts applications and update the inventory.
  • Perform annual attestation of the Data Classification of the respective IS applications and ensure compliance with the Data Security Standard.
  • Enable ingestion of physical data dictionary of in-scope applications to ensure technical metadata is up to date.
  • Refresh IS application inventory and perform status update of compliance with GDPR, Data retention, etc.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Working towards a Bachelor or master's degree in data management, Data Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Business Administration, Economics other related field
  • Strong personal skills and the ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized with good attention to detail and very high level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to think critically and "outside the box"

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience in the financial services industry, and strong understanding of the data lifecycle, including strong focus on data governance and data quality practices.
  • Prior experience working with Data quality tools like Information Analyzer, Informatica DQ, SQL based DQ tools, Python scripting, BI/Visualization tools.
  • Working experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, IBM IGC or similar.

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
