As a Regulatory Initiatives Analyst, you will support the Wealth Management (WM) Operational Risk and Shared Services team in managing regulatory change and risk-based initiatives. This role will involve assisting with the design and execution of regulatory programs, which include risk and control identification/assessment, change management, and operational risk reviews. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic team that influences the operational risk landscape across Wealth Management.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Assist in the execution of Regulatory Initiatives for WM and contribute to regular reporting efforts.
  • Support the Director of Regulatory Initiatives in managing new and ongoing projects, including Risk Conduct & Culture and other WM risk initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of project plans and assist in securing stakeholder buy-in for action plans.
  • Support targeted ad hoc reviews through planning, execution, reporting, and analysis of high-risk issues, focusing on risks and root causes.
  • Prepare reports as requested by management for senior executives, aiding in strategic decision-making.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, preferably in a program related to Business, Finance, Law, or Risk Management.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, challenging, and cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with multiple teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Previous internship or work experience in financial services, regulatory affairs, or risk management.
  • Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
  • Basic understanding of the regulatory environment and key regulations impacting the financial services sector, such as anti-money laundering and consumer protection.

Please note:

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
