Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Winter 2025 STUDENT placement with a start date of January 2025 and end-date of April 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2025; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2024/April 2025), but you require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will be accountable for enhancing the tools, resources and methodologies for the Business Risk & Governance team within Cards, Payments, Transformation & Loyalty (CPT&L). You will work closely with the members of the Business Risk & Governance team, as well as other partners to deliver projects that will streamline and automate processes to enrich the operations and decision processes. You will learn about Risk Management within the context of strategic initiatives coming to life.

What will you do?

  • Look critically, with the team, at the CPT&L Business Risk & Governance processes and engagement model and find opportunities to enhance and/or automate Business Risk process or promote collaboration

  • Implement and/or reconfigure Confluence or other RBC approved tools to improve processes

  • Update, re-configure and/or Automate areas of Business Risk & Governance Connect Site

  • Build reports and/or provide data queries/analysis in support of risk issues

  • Support risk reporting, training and documentation including the Operational Risk Scorecard, Risk Appetite, and Risk & Control Monitoring Reports

  • Re-organize information, reports, approval documents and training material on Business Risk & Governance SharePoint

  • Review Production Acceptance Testing (PATs)

  • Compile "Good Conduct" examples

  • Assists in the sustainment of a disciplined risk & control environment for Credit Cards, Payments, Transformation & Loyalty portfolio

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry and banking system

  • Strong proficiency with technology - Confluence, Excel (Macros & Pivot Tables), programming automation, Tableau and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Problem solving skills and strong analytical, critical and creative thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve problems, take ownership and be accountable

  • Collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done in a detail oriented environment

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and to work successfully under pressure

  • Ability to grasp information quickly with a high attention to detail

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a project and status reporting environment and comfortable with ambiguity

  • Related work experience
