What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking is seeking a motivated and versatile Analyst to join its Equity Capital Markets Group based in Downtown Toronto. The Analyst will provide quantitative, analytical and execution support to the Equity Capital Markets team across a variety of equity financing transactions.
Our Equity Capital Markets ("ECM") Group structures and executes public and private equity, equity-linked offerings and corporate equity derivatives for our global client base. RBC's ECM Group is a leader in the placement of equity and equity- linked products with a range of institutional investors around the globe and retail investors across North America. The Group's capabilities span initial public offerings, follow-on primary and secondary issues, convertible and other equity-linked issues, corporate equity derivatives, and private placements.
Our highly-experienced team partners closely with the firm's investment banking professionals to advise corporations, governments, private companies and financial sponsors. We provide expertise on financing and monetization structures, execution frameworks and market receptivity to specific transactions and equity placements. Our close collaboration extends to our institutional equity sales team and our retail investor network, enabling us to provide clients with excellent market intelligence along superior execution and equity placement capabilities.
What will you do?
Perform financial analysis in the context of originating, structuring and executing equity/equity-linked financing transactions, and closely monitoring and understanding equity market themes relevant to RBC's corporate clients
Analyze and maintain databases tracking equity financing activity and other market intelligence
Assist with preparation of pitch & advisory presentations, responses to RFPs, and other ad-hoc market research
Prepare, review and summarize marketing materials and other documentation for equity and equity-linked financing transactions including confidential information memoranda and investment offering summaries
Collaborate with other teams across Investment Banking and Global Markets in Canada, the U.S. and globally to drive successful outcomes for our clients
What do you need to succeed?
University degree, preferably in business/commerce, economics, "STEM" or other relevant discipline
Demonstrated superior track record in academic and professional endeavors
A clearly defined interest in investment banking and financial markets, and basic knowledge of market structure and themes
Energy, motivation, and a team-oriented mindset
Strong computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Quantitative, analytical and financial modeling skills
Adept written communication and data visualization skills
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines while maintaining scrupulous attention to detail
Ability to work as a member of a professional team in a fast-paced corporate environment
Flexibility in schedule to meet client deadlines
