Purpose:


The Assistant Manager contributes to the overall success of the Commodities Settlements team within Settlements & Clearing, GWO in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.


Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Supports Commodity Derivatives with focus on Energy & Agriculture settlement on oil, diesel, carbon allowances, petrochemical, natural gas, agriculture and index products.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Supervise/ Perform day-to-day operational activities. This includes but is not limited to verification of daily settlements, investigation of settlement issues, Reconciliation of Daily Funding and involvement with projects as they relate to the team, as well as any other assigned daily control points.

• Effectively support, communicate with, and maintain excellent working relations with front office, clients, technology and any other related internal/external stakeholders to ensure that all interrelated processes take place in an accurate and timely manner and that any discrepancies are addressed effectively.

• Responsible for providing accurate and informative analysis and reporting to the Settlements & Clearing Management and Front Office (e.g. Cash Forecasting funding Sheets for USD and CAD funding and upcoming K2 settlement reports)

• Act as the first point of contact to clients for any escalations

• Consistently look for any opportunities for process improvements to maximize efficiencies.

• Develop a sound understanding of all Commodities products supported under Base and Precious
Metals, Foreign Exchange Options (FXO), and Energy and Agriculture (EAC). Also learn the day-to-day settlement procedures to provide coverage as needed to cover absences.

• Develop proficiency with applications used by the Commodities settlements team daily (SCOTS, Murex, BESS, SPG-K2, SPG-SCOTS, CashPro, and JIRA)


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

• University bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Wholesale Operations
• Commodities / Energy Settlement experience


Work Arrangement:


• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
• Overtime may be required during peak periods or high-volume days
• Coverage on Statutory holidays is required
