What is the opportunity?

Group Risk Management is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of significant risks arising from RBC’s businesses and operations, supported by comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies and practices, robust risk management systems, and experienced professionals.

The Associate Director will report into the Director, Risk Governance and Controls and will be performing a Global role supporting the business lines within Wealth Management. The incumbent will play a key role in risk reporting to the various management committees and forums under the Wealth Management (WM) Risk umbrella and performing various risk oversight and governance activities for WM globally.

What will you do?

Risk Reporting:

  • Leads the preparation and coordination of reports presented to committees/forums by the Heads of Risk for Wealth Management businesses.
  • Work in collaboration with Risk Contributors and other stakeholders to ensure messaging is clear, and reporting is accurate and sufficient. Provides effective challenge on all risk materials prior to presentation to the audience. Develop subject matter expertise in Wealth Management related Risk.
  • Manage the accurate and timely execution of the monthly/quarterly/annual reporting and pre-reporting processes, with a focus on iterative improvement on the presentation of reports, turnaround times, and quality of stakeholder engagement.
  • Interact and communicate with senior management to identify key topics of interest to Risk Committees and prepare Deep Dives as necessary.

Risk Controls and Regulatory Compliance Monitoring:

  • Ensuring an effective risk control environment for GRM - Wealth Management including the ongoing development and implementation of risk controls; Support the annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment as required.
  • Support the maintenance of a robust Regulatory Compliance Management program for GRM - Wealth management owned activities and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with regional risk teams and global stakeholders to ensure consistency and alignment of risk processes across jurisdictions.

Risk Identification and Risk Governance:

  • Proactive identification of risks (operational, liquidity, credit, market risk) and communication of these risks to senior management as appropriate. Support and coordinate the risk identification process, facilitating top and emerging risk assessments and alignment with enterprise risk programs
  • Contribute to the governance of risk policies, frameworks, and standards, and procedures related to Wealth Management. Respond to regulatory, Internal Audit and external survey requests as required.
  • Undertake various risk-related projects, requiring effective coordination across wide numbers of GRM and Business groups.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 5+ years experience in financial services
  • 5+ years of experience in reporting as well general knowledge within key risk disciplines e.g. enterprise, financial (market, credit, liquidity) or non-financial.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint (presentation design, storytelling) and Excel (data analysis, reporting templates).
  • Ability to effectively translate analytically complex ideas into clear and concise insights and presentations
  • Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines
