What is the opportunity?

Lending Services within Business & Client Services (BCS) includes three pillars working collaboratively to provide end to end service support to our Capital Markets and BFS business partners for lending products and supporting administrative agent responsibilities when mandated. The Loan Servicing Pillar is responsible for managing the ongoing servicing requirements for the global loan book including oversight for advancements of funds for ongoing rollovers, paydowns and amendments by ensuring notices from borrowers, agent banks or relationship managers are actioned in a timely manner within established risks and controls framework.

What will you do?

  • Leads and manages 3-4 teams of operations professionals (total team size 20-30 FTE) who are responsible for day-to-day loan servicing of a portfolio of syndicated and bilateral loans where RBC is either participant or agent or both. The portfolio may include loans originated from Business Financial Services, Corporate Client Group, Asset Based Lending, Real Estate Capital Corp (RECC) and/or Capital Markets.
  • Responsible for performance management, coaching and mentoring of 3-4 direct reports.
  • Collaborate with other Associate Directors across pillars to ensure processes are consistent and knowledge is shared.
  • Keep Senior Leadership team aware of any issues and escalate appropriately to ensure messaging and communication is streamlined.
  • Collaborate across pillars to provide excellent end to end servicing including identification of operational risk events and implementation of tactical controls as required.
  • Ensure team is following process controls and responsibilities including relevant SOX and key controls.
  • Provides relief for the other Associate Directors during vacations and other absences and assists with the development of the assigned team including (i) demonstrating and promoting a continuous improvement mindset; (ii) delivering best in class service to internal and external clients; (iii) supporting staff and keeping them focused on business priorities and deliverables (iv) recruiting and career development plans
  • Project work as assigned

What do you need to succeed?

Must have’s

  • Strong operational/credit background and/or related experience with proven demonstration of knowledge in lending/credit practices including knowledge of syndication practices, loan documentation, lending products, funding mechanisms in Canadian, US, UK/EU, SY markets.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage strong and effective relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Proficient with systems and diverse application and ease of adopting new and complex technology (i.e. the Loan Funding systems – ACBS, CID, CCMS, TMS, etc.).
  • 5+ years front line/middle office experience in lending function.
  • Proven ability to showcase leadership in a team dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead a cohesive team charged with effectively balancing the customer experience while managing operational and reputational risk.
