Job Summary

The Associate Director will be responsible for model governance, model inventory management, model performance testing, developing and managing control activities, assessing process completeness and compliance with internal and regulatory standards, and assisting with data and model monitoring activities.

The Associate Director will report to the Director, Environmental & Social Risk - Model and Data Governance.

The preferred candidate should have a quantitative background and will be acting as the 1 B function for model development activities and processes implementation.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Lead the design, development and maintenance of model governance, and ensure compliance to the relevant Bank's standards (e.g., RBC Enterprise Model Risk Operating Standards) and regulatory requirements

  • Participate in sessions to provide input, gather and document requirements

  • Contribute and assist in Enterprise Model Risk Management (EMRM) submissions, including documentation

  • Lead, as a subject matter expert, in all governance related activities including, issue management and the preparation of issue memo closures

  • Develop control frameworks, guidelines and procedures

  • Design and implement controls and quality assurance tools

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of model monitoring reports

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Degree in quantitative field of study (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science)

  • Expertise in programming and querying languages (e.g., SQL, python)

  • Strong knowledge and experience in Data Management, Model Governance and Risk concepts

  • Prior working experience with model risk management framework, quality assurance framework, risk mitigation and issue remediation

  • Prior experience with model validation, and interacting with regulators (OSFI, OCC, Federal Reserve, etc.), internal and external auditors

  • Strong knowledge of data quality controls and procedures documentation

  • ·Effective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment

  • Commitment to quality and accuracy with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Strategic thinking skills with proven ability to drive results in a cross-functional environment

  • Strong organizational awareness, demonstrated ability to anticipate risks and issues and escalate when required

  • Proven collaboration, impact, influence and change management capabilities across business, IT, and functions

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of Climate data landscape: common challenges and available solutions

  • Risk management experience particularly in relation to Environmental, Social & Governance Risk
