Purpose
Assist with the design and execution control processes with input from the GBM business lines (Line 1A) and the second lines of defense (e.g. GBM&T Compliance), thereby contributing to the overall success of the first line of defense in managing operational risks inherent in the businesses.
The Regulatory Trade Controls & Advisory (RTCA) group within the GBM Internal Control group operates as the Bank's center of excellence in the first line of defense for ensuring compliance with G20 regulations including Derivatives regulations in Canada, United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific Derivatives regimes, collectively referred to as the OTC Derivatives Regulations. The Associate will support the Associate Director on the ongoing compliance efforts and ensure that initiatives are completed as requested by the senior management of Global Capital Markets pursuant to the deadlines for compliance set by prudential and market regulators. The job will expose the incumbent to all aspects of the derivatives, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, and equity businesses of Global Capital Markets, and to all key stakeholders in the front, middle and back office including control and support units, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Audit and Global Risk Management.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Participate with the team in working with the business lines and internal stakeholders in understanding the regulatory framework and developing systems and processes to ensure compliance
  • Design controls and execute monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Challenge management controls and identify gaps and issues with the existing control program and work with stakeholders to remediate
  • Represent Internal Control in change management initiatives as a stakeholder and ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks
  • Ensure business line input is provided to bridge the gap between rule requirements and current business line practices
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials, and progress reports sent to stakeholders, including senior management. Attend program meetings and serve as the program secretary when required
  • Maintain databases and internal tools used for tracking progress, regulatory developments, audit and documentation
  • Conduct research, summarize requirements and manage one-off projects / or sub-projects when required
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

What You'll Bring:

  • University degree in business, finance, and/or relevant experience
  • Prior experience and familiarity with derivatives products
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in capital markets, preferably in regulatory role
  • Considerable initiative, creativity and good judgment are necessary. A high level of energy, commitment and a strong sense of teamwork are needed to succeed in the role
  • Intermediate to Advanced user capabilities in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • This role requires successful completion of the NFA Swaps Proficiency Requirements within 90 days of assuming the role
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time and identify synergies across multiple regulatory requiremen


Work Arrangement
This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work at least 3 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
