Job Description:

Role Summary

Sun Life Canada Distribution (SLFD) is one of the leading financial institutions that offer Canadians holistic advice and solutions including insurance, wealth and health through a team of digitally-enabled and insights-driven human Advisors. We are on an exciting journey to transform the Advisor experience that increases ease of doing business, productivity and Client engagement. Reporting to the SVP Strategy & Enablement, the AVP Advisor Digital Journey will be responsible for owning end-to-end Advisor journeys by leading cross functional teams that deliver digital experiences, tools, and capabilities to advisors.

What will you do?

Vision and Strategy

  • Translate SLFD business strategy and establish the Advisor journey vision and supporting strategy that will deliver target business outcomes and world-class advisor experiences

  • Drive thought leadership by bringing in best practices from other leading financial services companies and / or relevant out of market players

  • Interact with advisors to understand their evolving needs to engage Clients and grow their businesses

  • Define target advisor journey and experiences and ensure they are evergreen to adapt to advisors and Clients' evolving needs

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to develop business cases in introducing new capabilities and platforms

  • Represent the voice of advisors and business stakeholders and be accountable for advisor journey objectives and key results (OKRs)

Delivery and Execution

  • Oversee a collection of teams comprising multiple squads to deliver target advisor journey experiences in partnership with corresponding Tech Lead from Digital Business Technology Services (DBTS)

  • Continuously monitor and measure Advisor Journey OKRs and generate insights to ensure delivery teams are progressing towards OKRs

  • Lead development and ongoing refresh of advisor journey multi-year roadmap and determine business and technology capabilities required to activate the target state journeys

  • Continuously prioritize delivery backlogs of each delivery team on a quarterly basis so that teams are always working on highest value items

  • Responsible for team delivery maturity and adapt team structure as needed to realign with roadmap and priorities

  • Evolve advisor experience design with process efficiency including optimizing processes as needed and maintenance of process documentation across journey teams

  • Partner with DBTS Tech Lead in managing external technology vendor relationships to optimize achievement of business outcomes

  • Responsible for driving awareness and adoption of new digital capabilities and tools through partnership with Change Management team

  • Ensure delivery addresses applicable legal, compliance regulatory and internal policy requirements

What do you need to succeed?

Execution experience: Proven track record of implementation experience in sales, distribution technology or financial services technology systems and platforms

Agile delivery: Experienced in scaled agile delivery with user centric design approach; Scrum Alliance Product Owner certification is preferred

Data-driven and business acumen: Ability to identify and quantify business drivers and value of digital capabilities that connect back to the overall business strategy

Creativity and problem solving: Ability to solve problems within constraints effectively by balancing various lenses business, operations, design and technology

Stakeholder management: Ability to navigate field leaders and internal partners, driving strong positive influence to engender support towards toward target actions and outcomes

Leadership: Experience in leading and coaching a large diverse high performing team through proactive career development and continuous feedback loop

Executive communication: Effectively communicate key insights, ideas and strategies, to an executive level audience in a clear, compelling and concise manner

Collaboration and teamwork: Sun Life is proud to offer a hybrid work environment with at least 2-3 days in office per week

Industry experience: Minimum of 10 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management and / or other financial services

As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
