Reporting to the Managing Director, Business Management & Strategic Initiatives, the Business Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the oversight and management of CDS's business portfolio of initiatives to ensure effective performance of CDS' business operations, all regulatory needs are being met, and opportunities to enhance the overall business effectiveness of CDS are assessed and implemented as appropriate. The role will be responsible for helping to scope, define, manage, coordinate and report on the execution of initiatives by working with resources from various cross functional partners and enterprise functions, such as Risk Management, Legal and Regulatory, Operations, IT, Finance and Human Resources.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Portfolio Management
Support the effective execution of key regulatory and strategic initiatives and projects, providing guidance from a business management and project management perspective
Provide reporting to support the Portfolio Management Committee's oversight of the CDS portfolio of initiatives
Coordinate with initiative and project leads for the completion of project artifacts, as necessary, and incorporate key milestones into portfolio level reporting
Extract and collate key decision points in current projects and initiatives in order to assist with the Portfolio Management Committee's oversight
Act as Project Lead and / or Business Project Manager as may be appropriate for certain initiatives from time to time
Assist business stakeholders in researching and monitoring in support of advancing and/or developing business cases
Business Management
Support the effectiveness oversight of business operations through developing and implementing process improvements and related reporting
Collaborate on organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity in alignment with the CDS objectives
Identify opportunities to enhance business performance recommending solutions to address improvements that could impact achievement of CDS objectives
Identify opportunities to deliver solutions to enhance CDS regulatory program and drive efficiency
Work with the leadership team to set KPIs, monitor business performance and develop data insights that support the CDS objectives
Develop and distribute appropriate reporting for various governance bodies, including the CDS and TMX Group Boards and the CDS Portfolio Management Committee
Must Haves:
Post-secondary degree in business, finance or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in Canadian and/or global capital markets is preferred, ideally in a post-trade capacity
Proven experience in supporting the delivery of complex projects, including regulatory and/or strategic driven initiatives
Experience across post trade clearing either on a consultative basis or in practice
Knowledgeable with operating in an FMI regulatory environment
Success in building trust and maintaining long-term and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Strong drive and initiative; comfort with ambiguity and fluid mandates
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently within time constraints
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally
Aptitude for both strategic and analytical thinking
Passion for excellence and integrity; tenacity and resilience
Exceptional organizational and time management skills

PMP certification
CSC - Canadian Securities Course
Note: Hybrid role, 2 days in office (either Toronto or Montreal location)
