The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

GBME is searching for a Technical Analyst with a strong product and delivery mindset to bridge the gap between user experience and product management. This role will involve liaising between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring that solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently, and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market-leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence and value to our business partners and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Create both technical and user facing documentation to ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Gather and translate user requirements and feedback into actionable product plans.
  • Manage deliverables according to set timelines, ensuring consistent progress toward project goals.
  • Apply a deep understanding of business functions to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive business specifications and requirements documentation to support development and project efforts.
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as needed.
  • Participate in developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress, and securing consensus and cooperation from stakeholders and senior management.
  • Collaborate with GBME technology teams throughout all phases of the system development life cycle, bridging the gap between business and technology.
  • Act as a liaison between business and IT to deliver technical solutions that meet user needs.
  • Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues across global regions.
  • Provide support during production issues and manage escalations during release cycles.
  • Estimate development efforts and lead project planning, ensuring seamless coordination and thorough documentation.
  • Track progress against project objectives, facilitate financial reviews, and drive stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignments and consensus across teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the system development life cycle, providing solutions and supporting production as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience creating both technical and user-facing documentation.
  • 4+ years of experience gathering user requirements and translating them into product roadmaps.
  • 4+ years of experience working within agile/scrum product management frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience managing deliverables on a timeline.
  • 3+ years of practical experience in capital markets.
  • 2+ years of experience measuring product success (with the ability to explain success metrics in interviews)
  • Proven ability to work across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
  • Experience working with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Proficiency with SQL Server, with the ability to independently create and run queries.
  • Familiarity with platform engineering concepts is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Unix tools and shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python).

Preferred Qualities

  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and gain expertise in new technologies while executing tasks (be prepared to provide real examples during the interview).
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver effective results.
  • Experience creating presentations for leadership to communicate progress and gain support for future developments.
  • Experience managing projects involving front, middle or back-office systems.
  • Familiarity with design thinking principles and product road mapping.
  • Experience in PL/SQL, SQL Loader, UNIX Tools, Bash, Perl, Python, Java, XML, and HTML is an asset.
  • Experience working on products where customers education was critical to growth.
