Zurich Canada is currently looking for a CAT Operations Senior Consultant.
Reporting to the National CAT Manager, you will be responsible for various CAT-related tasks as part of Zurich Canada's catastrophe response.

• Yearly update of internal CAT Plan
• Completion of industry CAT surveys / information requests
• Initiate internal and external protocols for a new CAT
• Staying current on weather events and industry CAT trends, including mapping of weather events against our risk locationsCollaboration with Global and ZNA CAT Teams on weather events worldwide
• Collaboration with reinsurance, underwriting, finance and actuarial departments
• Data gathering and updates for all LOBs. This includes Zurich managed files as well as all TPA managed files, requiring collaboration with Zurich's TPA operations and partners
• Quarterly completion of Global CAT reporting for domestic and international events
• Working with Zurich's Resilience Solutions team to track and contact potentially impacted customers
• Analyzing internal systems to ensure proper coding of CAT claims
• Working with IT/Strategy teams on CAT-related system enhancements
• Providing quarterly updates on CAT exposure and trends
• Attendance at external CAT-related conferences
• Site visits after significant CAT events (as necessary)
• Handling of some property claims during CAT events
• Data analysis of CAT volumes, trends and insights, including creating pivot tables
• Creation of CAT-related decks
• Ensuring standards are adhered to when it comes to international coding

Required:
• Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Operations area.
OR
• Juris Doctor and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Operations area.
OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree with 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Operations area.
OR
• Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Operations area.
OR
• High School Diploma Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Operations area.
AND
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
• Property claims handling experience
• Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products
• Knowledge of different reinsurance structures and how they can apply

• Understands, analyzes, and applies the component parts of an insurance policy for complex claims
• Ability to follow reserving process for indemnity and expense in analyzing the potential exposure of complex claims
• Ability to determine the scope and exposure for complex claims
• Ability to leverage trend and relationships to provide high-quality customer service
• Well-versed in identifying, understanding and explaining complex financial and/or actuarial trends/concepts.
• Ability to effectively communicate coverage determinations to customers/clients/brokers for complex claims
• Ability to direct counsel on an ongoing basis to guide the course of complex litigation and settlement strategies
• For Quebec candidates, French language skills are a requirement as well as fluency in both spoken and written English to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec.
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Compensation may exceed the range listed based on the evaluation of skillset and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $77,100 to $126,300.
