The Toronto Grace Health Centre (TGHC) provides specialized care and services to individuals who require Complex Continuing Care, Post-Acute Care Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, Wound Care, Respiratory Therapy, and Transitional & Remote Care. The care and services provided at TGHC helps facilitate patient flow through the health care system and ensures recovery and supports their integration back into the community.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for closely monitoring the financial health across the Toronto Grace Healthcare Network and works collaboratively with external partners and internal leadership teams. The Controller manages Financial Reporting and General Accounting which includes the Treasury, Internal Controls, Accounts Payable and Payroll functions. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Year-end Audit:

Manage the year-end audit process with external Ministry and Financial auditors.

Creation of external audit financial statements with working papers.

Financial Reporting:

Responsible for preparing monthly financial results by developing standardized and automated packages.

Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.

Review of monthly financial results for variations to expectations, investigate gaps and provide explanations.

Help develop and support short and long-term financial strategies.

In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

Assist the CFO in creation of Board and Audit and Finance Committee packages.

Financial Accounting:

Guide financial decisions by developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and guidelines to current economic landscape and Public Sector Accounting Standards.

Develop and implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs.

Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.

Responsible for the ongoing review of periodic account analysis; provides status updates and issues analysis to Chief Financial Officer.

Payroll and Accounts Payable:

Develop Policies and Procedures to maximize payroll and payables efficiency through innovative process development.

Provide supervision to Payroll Officer and Accounts Payable Analyst.

Treasury:

Oversight of Treasury function including day to day cash management.

Coaching, Development, and Improvement:

Encourages team members to seek information and resources so they can meet objectives.

Provides direct management in performance evaluations.

Provides each employee with specific feedback on strengths and weaknesses and creates and implements developmental plans to continuously improve performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Qualifications:

CPA CA with 3+ years in a Manager or Senior Manager of Assurance/Audit capacity in an Accounting firm with 10+ years proven accounting experience.

Bachelor’s degree in an accounting or business program.

Experience managing a group of 2 or more professional staff.

Accounting experience in a large complex Healthcare environment considered an asset.

Experience converting complex data into clear and concise information for clients with varying degrees of financial knowledge.

Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills; solid business analysis with the ability to effectively facilitate group discussion and build consensus.

Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem-solving combined with exceptional tactical implementation and project management skills.

Proven ability to solve and prioritize a varied and heavy workload in a changing and fast paced environment.

Proven experience working with diverse groups of people and confident in presenting ideas and plans to senior management.

Verified ability to inspire, motivate and lead a service-oriented, customer-focused, high- performance team.

Demonstrated understanding of change management and proven ability to facilitate ongoing process improvements e.g., identification and adoption of enabling technology.
