Position Summary

University Health Network (UHN), Canada's #1 hospital, is seeking a visionary Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) to drive financial excellence and innovation. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the DCFO will oversee financial management, reporting, and service delivery across a world-class organization that integrates patient care, education, and research. The DCFO leads a team of more than 100 professionals, ensuring optimal resource utilization, regulatory compliance, and alignment with UHN's mission of transforming lives and communities through excellence in care, discovery, and learning.

Qualifications

The DCFO plays a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and providing strategic insights on hospital finances, asset management and organizational performance. The DCFO works collaboratively with hospital, education and research partners to oversee a diverse financial and investment portfolio including treasury, capital finance, planning & analysis, reporting, audit, procurement, supply chain, payables, revenue, account management and business innovation. The DCFO supports the Executive Vice President and CFO with managing the financial health & performance of the organization including the execution of the annual and multi-year budget and performance cycles, ensuring overall financial integrity and corporate sustainability. Driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement resulting in ongoing enhancements to administrative, technological and operational processes is a key aspect of the role requiring a sound awareness of evolving digital technologies and business skill sets. A solid understanding of financial risk, regulatory and compliance management and the governance responsibilities of a Board of Trustees (and their information requirements) is important. With a minimum of 10 years of financial leadership experience in a large and complex multi-site environment, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation, and a proven track record of team leadership and fiscal innovation, the ideal candidate will bring exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to this impactful role.
