The successful candidate will be reporting to our Director, Head of Trading and will work closely with our traders, Portfolio Managers and the rest of the investment team to execute and facilitate derivative trades, to make trading decisions in response to market information and trading activity, to identify investment opportunities arising from market dislocations, and to manage risk. You will be working with the sell-side broker community to locate external supply/demand for liquidity opportunities in the market to achieve best execution guidelines.

Accountabilities:

  • Execution of daily equity option orders (listed, converge, OTC) across several markets (CA, US, EU) in single name stocks and ETFs.
  • Analyze best execution strategy for non-benchmark trades and report performance metrics for trade executions.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of execution strategies and platform offerings for DMA.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of options market structure and exchange facilities.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and responding to incoming market information, economic announcements, and general trading activity to manage portfolio risk and identify investment opportunities.
  • Working with the sell-side broker community to locate external supply/demand for liquidity opportunities in the market.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external trading partners through proper execution of trades/settlements.
  • Work with technology and third-party suppliers to systematically mitigate operational risks and develop/maintain desk tools to enhance trade executions.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and best execution policies are adhered to.
  • Execute trades under pressure within short timelines to meet business objectives.
  • Maintain the highest fiduciary duty when representing and acting in our clients' interests.
  • Resolves trade related inquiries via various communication channels in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Review and present trade cost analysis reports.

Knowledge:

  • 3 - 5 years of work experience on an derivatives trading desk.
  • University degree
  • CFA Charterholder desirable

Skills:

  • Experience with BBG terminal, Python, Excel/VBA.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • A clear understanding of risk management and ability to apply this knowledge to all relevant situations.
  • Collaboration, communication & team skills.

Salary:

$68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
