What you will be doing:

This role is focused on supporting Tangerine Marketing team, ensuring all assets are of the highest quality with consistent messaging and brand identity across channels. The Design Lead will be able to take in a wide variety of briefs, direct design and development, while also rolling up their sleeves when needed to craft new templates or modify illustrations. They should be skilled in visual design, passionate about their craft and able to communicate their ideas and educate stakeholders across the bank. The right candidate will be excited about how emerging technologies can support a scalable design practice, and how GenAI can potentially augment team capabilities.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Ensure high quality of all marketing assets, with consistent messaging and brand identity across channels (web, app, email, paid media)
  • Support the Marketing team as needed with the development of concepts, strategies, and campaigns; work within brand guidelines, while still pushing it into new areas and keeping it fresh
  • Work in collaboration with agencies to direct the design and development of creative materials
  • Be a strong individual contributor, completing design work when needed, including templates and illustrations
  • Work effectively with writers and agile squads; build relationships while incorporating ideas and inspiration from multiple sources
  • Establish, grow & maintain the illustration asset library
  • Stay on the forefront of emerging technologies to make creative processes more efficient and scaleable; establish testing scenarios for GenAI to scale personalized messaging
  • Handle a wide range of projects with short and long timelines
  • Present your own work to all stakeholders involved in the project while being open, persuasive, and engaging
  • Champion a Client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Deliver results in accordance to Tangerine's behavioural competencies. Creates an inclusive team culture and an environment where team members hear, share, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in graphic design or art direction
  • Ability to innovate within existing brand guidelines to build branded and creative assets across all owned channels
  • Post-secondary education in Design, Communications, the Fine Arts or a related field.
  • A demonstrable portfolio of work which showcases your stylistic breadth, attention to detail, and which balances beauty and clear communication design skills
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) & Figma; experience with GenAI tools an asset
  • A positive and resilient personality. You must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a self-guided manner with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage your own time efficiently, with limited input or oversight
  • Ability to balance great design with short and sometimes uncomfortable deadlines.
