What is the Opportunity?

The Director of Business Analysis and Application Management is an integral member of the Operations Strategy and Transformation team within RBC Bank Chief Operations Office. This position has overall accountability to ensure consistent and quality requirements management approach throughout the bank. Through leading and coaching a team of Business Analysts, this role will ensure robust, accurate and complete requirements deliverables in all initiatives across the client value chain. The Director of Business Analysis and Application Management will be required to lead from the front, provide hands on support, and demonstrate leadership in managing large scale change initiatives. This position will also lead a team of application management to ensure optimal performance of several mission critical applications, through ongoing enhancement in response to on going changes in business needs.

What will you do?

Business Analysis & Requirements Management Strategy:

  • Provide directions, expertise and coaching for a team of Business & Process Analysts who support various digital and process transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee Business and Process Analysts activities to ensure high level of consistency and quality deliverables that meet the business and initiative needs, including Requirements Management Plan, Requirements Document, Story Mapping Board, User Stories, Process design documentation, Executive update/recommendations etc.
  • Actively manage team members in software development life cycle (SDLC) / Agile delivery, through partnership with Sponsor Reps, Product Owners and technology teams, including design of effective test strategy (UAT & PIV), test script documentation, defect management, and implementation approvals
  • Act as a leader in the organizational adoption to various delivery methodology, including DIMAC / Six Sigma project, Kaizen Continuous Improvement model, Business Process Management (BPM), Waterfall / Iterative Waterfall SDLC, Agile/Scrum project delivery
  • Provide hands on support in Business Analysis / Requirements management for key initiative in preliminary assessment stage

Application Management:

  • Provide directions, expertise and coaching for a team of Application Managers who have operational accountability for a suite of business applications (IIPM)
  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks as related to Real Estate Financing, Cross Border Banking and Shared infrastructure applications such as Robotics Process Automation, by analyze, mitigate and escalate where appropriate
  • Guide guidance to Application Managers in performing business impact assessment in case of major incidents, communicate to end users and management teams
  • Oversee ongoing changes, system enhancement backlog, and planned initiatives to ensure business user can perform their daily functions accurately and efficiently.
  • Frequent and direct interaction with business users; be the Voice of users & Voice of customers; drive forward business strategy by supporting the management team
  • Actively participate in vendor relationship management through Statement of Work, QBR, Contract renewal negotiations etc.

Transformation Strategy & Initiatives:

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvements within RBC Bank, as part of the broader Operations Strategy & Transformation team mandates
  • Ideate and lead the execution of transformational initiatives with the objective to increase operational efficiency and scalability
  • Provide thought leadership to management teams across Sales, Real Estate, Deposit Operations, Data/Analytics, in needs assessment, solution architecture, and delivery/execution.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's Degree, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years within Financial Services, and/or Technology industry
  • 5-7 years experiences in Requirements Management, and/or Product Ownership
  • Large Program Management and/or Program Delivery experience
  • People Management experience

Nice to have

  • IIBA Certification
  • CSPO Certification
  • LSS Certification
