Reporting to the Enterprise Finance AVP, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role is accountable for transforming FP&A processes, leading and supporting a wide range of initiatives, and contributing to reporting and planning deliverables. This role is responsible for preparing analysis and developing recommendations impacting non-IFRS policy. This role affords the successful candidate the opportunity to learn about Sun Life's businesses from a macro/holistic perspective and develop analysis to provide key insights to the Executive Office.

What you'll be doing

  • Evaluate processes to identify and implement productivity opportunities leveraging Gen AI and recently implemented tools (Workiva, Tableau).

  • Support and lead Enterprise Finance FP&A initiatives and serve as the team representative in cross-functional projects. Example initiatives include the evaluation & selection of an enterprise-wide planning tool, implementation of IFRS 18, closing faster initiative.

  • Serve as a non-IFRS policy subject matter expert; prepare and deliver analyses and recommendations to senior Finance leadership.

  • Contribute to the newly founded FP&A Community of Practice forum through preparation of materials, and identifying, promoting and presenting agenda topics.

  • Support the drafting of quarterly Report of the Chief Financial Officer to the Board Directors and forecast materials. Develop key insights and messages.

  • Support Business & Strategic Plan deliverables during peak periods.

  • Deep dive analysis to develop insights, and support management decision-making.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CPA designation with 8 to 10+ years of experience; financial services industry preferred.

  • Additional qualifications (ex. CFA) would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Finance Performance Management tools (aka CPM, FPM or EPM)

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and/or Workiva in support of Executive and Board materials.

  • Effectively influence change through indirect reporting structures.

  • Progressive experience with management reporting and senior executive/board reporting.

  • Connects the big picture, understands the business and manages complexity across deliverables;

  • Optimizes work processes and aligns work to outcomes;

  • Focuses on key internal clients and their needs at senior levels;

  • Operates well in ambiguity and is resilient in changing situations;

  • Adapts style to be effective in different situations and challenges;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Excellent financial and business analytic capabilities;

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
