What is the Opportunity?

As the Director, Executive Compensation, you provide business partners and senior leadership expert advice on all aspects of executive compensation, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the financial and human capital impact of their HR decisions. Your knowledge and expertise help our businesses make informed compensation decisions to attract, reward and retain executive talent that facilitate achievement of business and human capital strategies.

In addition to the important advisory and relationship management role you will have with business partners and senior leaders, you will also play a role in the design, development and implementation of executive compensation solutions, plans, policies and processes of executive compensation programs at RBC.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with HR business partners to design executive compensation recommendations for current and prospective executives
  • Lead the cost effective research, collection, modeling and analysis of executive compensation data providing Group Executive members and their HR Advisors with meaningful and actionable information and recommendations to help them effectively manage RBC compensation spend
  • Proactively stay abreast of developments in the external market with whom we compete for business and talent, becoming an expert on relevant competitor compensation practices, key business strategies and responses to regulatory guidance
  • Coach, manages and takes personal responsibility to build a diverse compensation team committed to RBC values, accountability and high performance, ensuring employees are empowered with the accountability and responsibility to make the decisions needed to drive business / operational excellence
  • Support the design, development and implementation of executive compensation solutions (salary, short, mid and long-term incentive programs) that support and align with the RBC's strategies, related practices and programs
  • Act as key contact in compensation on pay equity matters including participation in the enterprise working group to ensure compliance with the Canadian Federal Pay Equity Legislation.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Experienced compensation professional with 8+ years compensation design experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Human Resources, Organizational Behaviour or similar
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to analyze complex situations, synthesize information, understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision making; and integrate information from different sources into a coherent view
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with an ability to achieve common organizational goals
  • Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and have strong attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills suitable for senior-level audiences
