Job Description:

The Finance Director in Digital Business & Technology Solutions (DBTS) serves as a central point for all finance related activates including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, chargeback process and cost optimization for key portfolios. The incumbent will lead a team of Finance Managers and Analysts and must be able to advise on decisions to ensure that the business is financially successful. The position requires strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills and reports directly to the AVP Finance, Digital Business & Technology Solutions.

What will you do?

  • Define, lead, and influence the business portfolio strategies
  • Lead the development of business portfolio guidelines and standards which include defining the guardrails to optimize cost performance
  • Lead business portfolio financial cost modeling which includes the cost and recovery models as well as the forecasts and budget review processes
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of the business portfolio operating budget and chargebacks to clients which include:
    • Monitoring financial performance during month-end, quarter-end, year-end activities
    • Present business reviews to senior management
    • Forecast costs to business application owners to support budgeting process
    • Drive successful implementation of product cost tracking and status reporting on initiatives
    • Identify and leverage cost optimization opportunities
  • Participates in ongoing financial management and renewals for large enterprise contracts including pricing and RFP analysis along with communicating implications of cost changes to Business Groups (BGs)
  • Responsible for SLC BG relationship with respect to DBTS chargebacks to SLC
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring employees
  • Provides thought leadership for the business portfolios
  • Drives and helps implement digital transformation changes
  • Drives best practices, enforcing the highest standards

What do you need to succeed?

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience within the financial management, including experience leading, coaching and developing teams
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent relevant business experience
  • Proven experience in expense management, cost accounting, activity based costing, and financial modelling
  • Experience working with SAP Financials and Hyperion Planning
  • Familiar with / basic knowledge of cost recovery / chargeback models
  • Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting timelines
  • Ability to operate in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Client focused with an attitude to deliver excellent client outcomes
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
  • Ability to take "ownership" with high sense of urgency and work like an "entrepreneur"
  • Problem solving, analytics and resolution skills
  • Exceptional and effective verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills required to help drive management actions based on insights observed

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
