What is the opportunity?

A key role reporting to the Sr. Director, Application Finance, Technology & Operations (T&O) you are responsible for the enhancement, active financial management and value-added strategic financial advice supporting the Global Functions Technology (GFT) team as an integral leader of the T&O Applications Finance Senior Management Team. Acting as a strategic partner, your financial counsel and thought leadership to influence decision making is based on insightful, timely advice and analysis, and early identification of opportunities and issues. You will also be responsible for all core reporting and advisory of Functions Applications. You will help to enhance financial transparency into Applications costs and lead the teams in setting performance targets, reporting on key metrics and preparing and presenting forward-looking materials (i.e., estimates, forecasts and Plan) to drive decision making around spend, prioritization and savings opportunities. You will lead the team to provide financial analysis to enable business decisions surrounding new initiatives including initiative/project prioritization and resource planning.

What you will do?

  • Responsible for the performance management of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial processes and insights of Global Functions Technology (GFT) impacting an annual budget of over $400 million.
  • Lead the estimate and annual financial plan/forecast for GFT and assume full responsibility of Functions CIO reporting.
  • Conduct the annual review of five-year cost trends to facilitate strategic discussion on technology and business demand for Functions Applications.
  • Leverage strategic discussions to establish budget goals for upcoming fiscal year and oversee planning/forecasting process.
  • Establish and maintain an operating relationship with various IT Applications business partners & stakeholders and other functional subject matter experts on financial matters.
  • Optimize financial management, tracking and advisory support and implement best practices.
  • Improve transparency into activity and technology drivers of IT Applications costs and enable cost optimization.
  • Identify new, prioritize and/or oversee enhancements to financial tools and processes supporting Applications teams across T&O.
  • Support the Applications Senior Management teams, impacting and influencing financial management framework, new spend and workforce management
  • Initiate ideas on improving efficiencies and simplifying how we work to drive faster, smarter decisions by unlocking tools, data, technology, streamlining processes and reducing cycle time to simplify and enhance how we work
  • Partner with the allocations team to understand and communicate the drivers of changes in the allocations for the various segments. Support the allocations team through providing insight into spend trends in order to supplement their allocation to segments
  • Lead the financial modeling and business cases for new investment approvals through PARs.

What you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • CPA, CFA or MBA
  • 10+ years' experience in a financial reporting/analysis role
  • A strong understanding of expense/cost management with superior financial and analytical skills
  • Change Management mind set and agility to pivot and prioritize.
  • Experience working within an organization with financial oversight in excess of $400 million
  • Ability to navigate within a highly matrixed fast paced organization, demonstrated impact through influence and conflict resolution
  • Ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and handled large scale change
  • A motivated self-starter who is achievement and excellence driven
  • Strong communicator with excellent relationship management skills
  • Strong People management skills with an aptitude for managing and mentoring staff and motivating cross functional teams

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge / Background in the Technology environment
  • Existing RBC / financial industry Experience
  • Executive relationship Management capabilities
