What is the opportunity?

The Director, Strategic Programs will contribute to the overall success of RBC Thought Leadership by delivering on strategic ambitions around critical issues affecting the country’s economy in support of our mission to inspire Canadian prosperity.

This dynamic role involves creating value and driving long-term success for RBC by building and leading programs aligned with strategic platforms including geopolitics & trade, disruptive technology (AI adoption, clean tech), human capital (skills, education, demographics) and climate action.

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with strong experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, driving cross-functional collaborations, and executing high-impact, transformational projects. They have a passion for tackling business problems and an interest in the key issues that shape our national agenda across policy and industry.

What will you do?

  • Lead strategic programs aligned with Thought Leadership goals – set objectives and agendas, create operating models, outline action plans, consult with relevant teams, organize meetings, and update progress with executives.
  • Partner with Thought Leadership platform leads to develop platform strategies, set goals, develop engagement plans, and help market and amplify research and insights.
  • Build and manage partnerships and engagement with key clients, academic institutions, think tanks, and industry groups (including alliances in which RBC is a member) to enhance our capabilities.
  • Identify new ways to grow, engage, and create value for Thought Leadership audiences (including RBC clients), including potential new channels, research offerings, and programs
  • Boost overall readership and engagement with Thought Leadership content with compelling messaging, effective marketing campaigns, creative events, and meaningful audience experiences.
  • Oversee impact measurement and reporting and communicate progress and key milestones with internal partners and senior leaders.
  • Foster an effective and collaborative work culture with a dynamic, high-performing team shaping the future of Canada.
  • Collaborate with internal RBC teams to amplify content, design stakeholder and client events, and deliver initiatives in support of business priorities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • ~10 years in business strategy development, program management, management consulting, or related areas.
  • Strategic and innovative thinker with a passion for driving prosperity and tackling Canada’s most pressing challenges.
  • Exceptional ability to lead major programs with a proactive, “get it done” mindset.
  • Exceptional ability to drive work forward across multiple internal teams and seek alignment across key priorities with diplomacy, professionalism, and positivity.
  • Strong ability to prioritize competing requests and effectively allocate resources while consistently meeting high standards of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity, ability to embrace change, and be highly adaptable.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to confidently influence and provide strategic guidance to senior leaders.
  • Strong experience building & maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

  • Previous experience in a large, global leading Financial Institution or consulting firm
  • Digital and social media savvy, with a strong grasp on the evolving digital media landscape
