Director, Technology Governance:

The Director of Technology Governance Office will lead and manage core IT governance functions to ensure effective planning, execution, and operational oversight of Tangerine's IT department. Reporting to the VP of Enterprise Architecture and IT Governance, this role is pivotal in aligning Tangerine's IT strategy with organizational goals and supporting IT leadership. The Director will oversee project management, IT change management, IT finance, vendor and contract management, business continuity and disaster recovery functions. Additionally, the Director will be accountable for leading the IT SteerCo as primary IT Operational Committee and will be responsible for planning and reporting of IT KPIs.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Chair the IT SteerCo, coordinate agendas and foster alignment with Tangerine's business goals to enhance accountability and performance of IT department.
  • Implement governance frameworks that ensure compliance, risk management, and alignment with regulatory, Tangerine, and Scotiabank standards.
  • Assist IT Leadership in developing and monitoring KPIs that provide insights into IT performance, ensuring regular and transparent reporting for Tangerine's leadership.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of IT projects, ensuring alignment with Tangerine and Scotiabank standards in delivery, budget, and performance.
  • Manage IT Change Requests to optimize customer-facing availability and minimize risk, adhering to best practices and aligning with Tangerine and Scotiabank policies.
  • Lead financial oversight for IT, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting, while ensuring consistency with organizational guidelines.
  • Oversee contract management and vendor performance reviews, maintaining relationships with strategic partners and collaborating with Scotiabank's TPRM and Procurement for optimal terms.
  • Foster relationships with senior leaders, build meaningful internal and external partnerships and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment of strategic priorities
  • Create, socialize and engage in executive level communications to drive alignment on strategic priorities
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT and business efficiency and support of Tangerine's IT operations
  • Understand and integrate the Bank's risk appetite risk appetite and culture into daily activities and decision-making process
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technology governance, project management, or similar field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • ITIL, COBIT, CGEIT, PMP, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of IT Governance Frameworks, Agile and Waterfall Development
  • Strong in MS O365, Confluence, ServiceNow, Jira, MS Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Proven experience supporting senior IT leadership
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think long-term and align IT Governance and strategic technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with a focus on driving high performance.
  • Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and mitigating risks related to technology and governance.
  • Proficiency in using KPIs and analytics to track and improve IT performance
