As the Director, ETF Business Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships, you are required to support and grow the Scotia GAM ETF investment business and help deliver on the set ETF growth strategy.

You will drive and coordinate the SGAM ETF strategic growth plan.

You will work closely with, sales teams, internal and external distribution channels and other Scotia Global wealth businesses to drive ETF usage and AUM growth in a variety of different channels and client types. The role will involve partnering with a wide variety of key stakeholders both within Scotia and in other firms.

You will be a tenured ETF professional, or individual with transferable skills and background, who can contribute to the overall Scotia GAM ETF environment and setting the necessary conditions to facilitate its future growth.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be:

1. Working closely with the VP, Head of ETF's, effectively execute the business strategy of the SGAM ETF investment team:
• Design and improve existing operational and business processes to allow for the continued growth of the overall SGAM ETF business, scaling of business operations in a cost effective and efficient manner.
• Act as a lead with internal and external stakeholders including operations, trading, portfolio managers, oversight, and technology.
• Contribute to the development and launch of new ETFs in collaboration with the relevant investment teams.
• Contribute to the budget/business planning process for the ETF business, working with the VP, Head of ETF's
to identify critical initiatives impacting the ETF budget in a given fiscal year
• On-going, evaluate technology, operational processes, systems, and tools to trading efficiency of the SGAM ETF suite.
• Establish the strategic and tactical direction to deepen and expand partnerships within Scotia Global Wealth Management channels (domestic and international) and externally (third party channels).

2. Responsible for daily oversight of business operations and trading of the SGAM ETF suite:
• Act as a lead with internal and external stakeholders including operations, trading, portfolio managers, oversight, and technology.
• Ensure the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk and in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles
• Ensure that the day-to-day business activities are compliant with the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture.
• Provide coverage of the ETF trading ecosystem and ensure the smooth operation of the ETFs, including ETF market makers, trade execution desks, stock exchanges. Develop and maintain strong relationships with ETF market makers, stock exchanges, and other members of the ETF trading ecosystem.


3. Maintain a client focus with a view of developing and growing the ETF business and deepen client relationships, including:

• Work with the sales, marketing, and other key stakeholder groups to develop impactful ETF insights and product content and as such to help to grow the ETF AUM.
• Be a primary contact for client interactions regarding liquidity, insights, and trading of the SGAM ETF suite.
• Deepen relationships within the various distribution channels across the bank and with external third parties.
• Gather competitive intelligence, maintain an awareness of ETF and asset management trends and evolving regulatory requirements.


4. Participate in the communication strategy for the SGAM ETF business, including:
• Collaborate with the VP, Head of ETF's on the creation of presentations and materials for a variety of audiences, including internal and external parties effectively imparting business strategy, financial results and areas of focus.

• Develop and implement communication strategies and plans in support of initiatives / changes.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• Undergraduate degree (Business, Finance, Accounting, etc.)
• CFA/CPA, MBA or related designation is an asset.
• Extensive knowledge of the ETF business
• 7 - 10 years of relevant industry experience
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Exceptional attention to detail;
• Strong organizational, decision making, strategic influencing and leadership skills;
• Familiarity with the business planning process;
• Ability to work with matrix teams across the Bank
