TTC is transforming its Finance function from a traditional controllership role to one in which Finance is a strategic business partner that provides value added, best and leading financial planning, management and reporting services across the organization.

What You Will Do

As the Financial Analyst - Business Partner Support you will be the financial subject matter expert responsible for providing financial planning, budgeting, financial management and control services directly to your assigned Business Partners (i.e. Departments/Groups).

You will provide support in translating business strategies in multi-year financial plans and lead the development, coordination, analyses and recommendation of your assigned Business Partner's annual Operating Budget that enables the delivery of TTC service and business priorities, future year Outlooks, service levels and performance metrics related to their delivery of TTC and Wheel-Trans.

As the incumbent, you will also monitor, report and analyze your assigned Business Partner's financial performance and provide oversight to ensure they comply with corporate controls to fulfil the TTC's fiscal management and accountability responsibilities and financial stewardship obligations.

It will be important to build and maintain a trusted relationship with your Business Partner in order to effectively provide financial expertise, consultative advice, direction and guidance.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, along with related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • Sound experience in the preparation of financial plans, budgetary reporting and financial analysis for a managerial audience
  • Sound knowledge of and working experience with cost control principles, methods, practices, performance measures, and financial research methods and techniques
  • Sound experience in the reviewing and financial administration of contractual agreements, and supporting oversight of the performance of contractual agreements
  • A recognized accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA), Chartered Accountants (CA), Certified General Accountants (CGA), or Certified Management Accountants (CMA), Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent designation is an asset
  • Strong strategic, lateral thinking, planning, analytical, and problem solving skills with the capacity to effectively plan, develop, implement and evaluate complex administrative and operating systems
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including writing reports and delivering presentations with complex technical information to senior leadership teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, demands and corporate deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
  • Sound knowledge in MS Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel (including Macros, Pivot Tables, Lookup Functions and Data Analysis Functions) and other computerized applications related to financial planning, budgeting, accounting, costing and cost control
  • Demonstrated work experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards is an asset.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
