What you'll do
Reporting to the Manager, FP&A, the Financial Analyst role supports forecasting and budgeting activities for the Canadian Tire Retail (CTR) banner. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in financial analysis to help our clients shape their budgets and forecasts that support their business. Provide OPEX support through budget preparation, forecast and variance analysis
Analyze variances by leveraging well-built client relationships and data analysis
Produce insightful, meaningful and analytical commentary to aid business partners in making key financial decisions
Proactively identify risks and opportunities to the financial plan
Support process improvement initiatives including report automation and client input templates
Build and improve financial models to assist with regular or ad-hoc analysis
Collaborate with fellow financial analysts and cross-functional teams
Participate as a subject matter expert in special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required
Who you are
Independent, attentive to detail and a self-starter to deliver quality results
Ability to present to key stakeholders to move analysis forward
Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Problem solver to be able to connect the dots and see the 'big picture'
Ability to synthesize and present concise financial analysis to non-financial stakeholders
Ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold, strategic moves in a rapidly evolving retail environment
What you bring
University Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other business-related disciplines
2 or more years of relevant experience in financial planning & analysis or accounting, preferably in a retail environment
Proficiency in building financial models including scenarios and sensitivities
Working experience in Peoplesoft, Hyperion and Power BI is considered an asset
