Job Description:

About the role:

The Finance Manager for the Sun Life IT department (Digital, Business and Technology Solutions (DBTS)) will partner with the DBTS IT delivery teams to provide support for all finance related activities including business casing, strategic planning, budgeting/forecasting, reporting, chargeback process and cost optimization for the DBTS portfolio. The Finance Manager must be able to partner with the key DBTS stakeholders as well as the business units on decisions to ensure that the business is financially successful.

This role will support the Distributed Computing Services and Digital Platform Modernization Portfolios within the Chief Technology Office and report into the DBTS Finance Director.

What will you do?

  • Define, lead and influence the DBTS finance strategy
  • Lead DBTS financial tracking, monitoring and cost optimization initiatives
  • Manage monthly reporting, forecasting and budgeting cycles
  • Provide value to IT and the business through early identification of financial risks & opportunities and other ad hoc report and analysis
  • Review enterprise-wide license agreements to validate spend and understand accounting treatment
  • Lead DBTS Financial cost modeling and business casing
  • Support broader finance team with other ad-hoc projects

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5 to 7 years of experience working in Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA)
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent relevant business experience
  • Experience in financial modeling, contract renewal/RFP analysis and business casing
  • Experience and proficiency with Hyperion, Excel (pivot tables, V-look ups, financial modeling, etc.), and PowerPoint
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of financial analysts
  • Extensive experience in building and operating financial controls and analysis
  • Financial reporting and data analytics skills
  • Proven track record of partnering with and influencing business units to drive results
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in working with large, complex organizations is an asset
  • Prior experience with Information Technology management is an asset
  • Reporting and data analytics/financial modeling skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
