Nature & ScopeYour Role at Roots

Roots is seeking a Project Controller to support all our technology related projects (front end, back end, data/BI, integrations). This role requires a team player who values collaboration, innovation, and is results-driven. The ideal candidate will have a project planning background and a proven track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams towards successful project execution. Reporting to the VP of Information Strategy and Systems Information Technology, the Project Controller will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Standard Delivery Lifecycle and processes to plan, execute and report on progress.

Key ResponsibilitiesHow You'll Make an Impact

  • Refine current project planning process to ensure a consistent delivery model.
  • Ensure teams are scheduling resources accordingly - Business Analysts, Developers, QA, Support, and Infrastructure across the Standard Delivery Lifecycle
  • Assist and support teams in prioritizing projects and resources to execute projects efficiently.
  • Monitoring project performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project managers in tracking project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Compile and analyze project data to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights to project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, documenting discussions and action items to ensure clear communication among team members.
  • Maintain project documentation, including reports, contracts, and compliance records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop project time estimates, and resource capacity
  • Implement and maintain project control processes and tools to ensure effective monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications & ExperienceThe Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of 2+ years in a similar project planning and controlling environment, preferably within a retail-related industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, MIS or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.
  • 1+ years of experience in project coordination or financial analysis, preferably within a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other project management tools.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools such as JIRA, MS Project, Asana
  • Experience with project management software for tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.
