What is the opportunity?
As the Lead Data Product Manager at RBC Global Asset Management, you will play a pivotal role in the organization as we look to redefine processes across the business and transform client experiences through creation of Data Products. As a key member of our data product team, you will play a crucial role in defining consumable data products that meets business needs and prioritizing the product backlog for reporting solutions, ensuring that the team delivers high quality solutions for use cases. As a highly skilled and visionary data product manager, you will also be responsible for creating the data product vision/strategy, creating product roadmaps, and for leading agile teams to develop and deliver exceptional data products.
You will leverage both technical acumen in Data, Product Management expertise to ensure material execution of our Data product roadmap through strong collaboration with the business and technical leads.
What will you do?
Work with Stakeholders to define the business problem a data product will solve and the benefits of solving said problem.
Define and communicate the data product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives and user needs.
Lead discovery for data use cases to determine desirability, feasibility, usability and viability in partnership with business stakeholders and technical leads.
Effectively assess potential solution design options (i.e. build, leverage internal capabilities) to determine optimal product design.
Effectively convey/communicate the product vision to the scrum teams, all stakeholders, and interested parties.
Collaborate and liaise with key business partners and stakeholders in the Digital and Data, Business, Operations, Finance, etc., to conduct discovery, develop business cases and OKRs.
Work with technical lead to translate road map components into technical elements for sprint planning.
Work with technical lead to understand delivery timelines, inhibitors to release, and work to overcome blockers.
Responsible for developing and maintaining inventory and roadmap for consumption data products. Availability of source data, creation of enhanced data attributes based on specific business logic or advanced data modeling, provisioning of integrated data sets aligned to business use cases and processes, integration with consumption tools and services to support business use and value capture.
Collaborate with delivery team, and other team members/stakeholders to identify and execute agile change management and adoption and integration activities.
Develop consistent metrics for data products and rationale for measuring success of the solutions, as well as the reporting methodology to track value realization.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
10+ years of product management and/or technical experience, particularly in context of data & reporting products with 5+years in leadership
CPO certification + demonstrated product management experience.
5+ years of progressive experience in advanced knowledge of data platforms or other tools to extract critical information and business value from data spread across multiple databases and data formats.
Strong understanding of data management and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Python and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).)
Proven collaboration and change management skills.
Problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements of complex processes/programs.
Post-secondary education (University or College) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Experience managing internal and external partners that contribute to the delivery of consumption data products.
