Job Description:

The Lead Designer is the advocate for the customer's needs and desires, which helps the Platform develop and implement the best solutions. This role focuses on enabling the 'Platform as a Product' by stitching together all product strategies, capabilities, and features within the platform. The Lead Designer is involved in all stages of the feature delivery lifecycle, notably in the steps to assist the customer articulate needs and understand their journey context. This role is accountable to work through cross-platform and architecture dependencies, and ensure deliverables are adopted successfully by the customer.

Qualifications

Domain Expertise

  • 5+ years of related experience in data architecture and design, including 2+ years of AWS cloud native design experience.
  • 5+ years' experience as a servant technology leader who has defined and implemented technical strategies within complex organizations to deliver digital products​.
  • The Design Lead is focused on the entire "Platform as a Product" through the end-to-end solution menu, lifecycle of the solution and the roadmap.
  • Proven ability in developing, evangelizing, and implementing product strategies across various stakeholders.
  • A wide experience and understanding of architecture in terms of solution, data, and integration​.
  • Has insight into the newest technologies and trends with respect to Cloud Ecosystems
  • The ability to read, understand and communicate data to make data informed decisions.
  • Experience with AWS services and architecture, big data eco system and its relevant components.
  • Experience with AWS EMR, S3, Glue, Lambda, Sagemaker and related tools.
  • Strong experience with ETL technologies and BI tools

Agile Experience

  • Experience working in Agile teams with a strong understanding of agile ways of working, including an agile culture​.
  • Experience managing technical priorities within an evolving product backlog​.
  • Understands how to decompose large technical initiatives into actionable technical enablers.​
  • Experience in the continuous improvement of software development workflows and pipelines​.

  • Proven leadership: ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences​.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with members of the platform leadership team to develop and maintain the Platform and Product roadmap.
  • Lead initial consultation and provide guidance to customers (business and IT) on platform and product capabilities.
  • Participate in Platform Incremental Planning (QIP) meetings to facilitate intake and clarification of customer requested features into the Platform backlog.
  • Upon delivery of platform features, work with the customer to onboard them to get started with the new solutions.
  • Support customers with best practices and knowledge articles developed by the platform team.
  • Collaborate with platform leadership team to define what constitutes customer success for your platform team and convert those to Platform OKRs.
  • Be a thought leader and technology evangelist to research/learn about modern capabilities and features and stay ahead of the customer demand.
  • Participate in design/sprint reviews with the product teams and assess deliverables from a customer standpoint.
  • Perform solution reviews in collaboration with technical partner teams such as EA, Cloud CoE/SDE, Operations, Security, Data Gov. team, etc.
  • Work closely with the technical leads and architecture teams to align solutions to meet the architectural vision and standards.
  • Diagnose, isolate, and resolve advanced problems pertaining to new and existing data patterns and applications.
  • Ensure excellent customer relations, as well as engage in high-priority interactions with clients.
  • Establish strong relationships, and proactively communicate, with team members as well as individuals across the organization.
  • Coach team members and help to keep their skills current on build and deployment best practices.
  • Lead by example: Set the tone for a data-driven culture within your team by incorporating data analysis in discussions, encouraging data-backed solutions, and recognizing and promoting data literacy efforts among team members.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
