Job Description:

The Manager, Change Management Governance role is a key leadership role accountable for ensuring field-facing change is rolled out in a systematic and sustainable manner across Retail Advice and Solutions. These changes may include, organizational culture transformations, changes to business processes and/or roles, changes in the underlying systems or technology platforms we use, changes that impact people and whose success will be dependent on successful adoption of new ways of working.

The Manager, Change Management Governance plays a key role in ensuring broad awareness of change initiatives and through adherence to change management best practices projects achieve their objectives and outcomes. This role will focus on the people side of change and at a high level involves:

  • Evaluating new change requests and providing expert guidance to Initiative Owners on change management best practices to recommend strategies based on the needs of each request
  • Maintaining a change calendar to ensure the volume of change is within organizational capacity
  • Defining and reporting on relevant metrics to effectively gauge the success of the change and change tactics in achieving target outcomes

What will you do?

  • Ensure change management best practices are applied to field-facing change initiatives; working with the Initiative Owner, ensure there is a clear articulation of the Change story - what will be different? What are the key "From … To's"
    • Assess stakeholder analysis and change impact
    • Analyze change management related risk assessment and mitigation tactics
    • Anticipate and manage anticipated resistance as a key part of the Change Plan
    • Consult and coach initiative owners to create an actionable and integrated Change Plan that covers all key stakeholders across the change management activity levers:
      • Communications plan
      • Sponsor action plan
      • Coaching plan
      • Training plan
      • Resistance management plan
      • Operational readiness
      • Change success metrics
  • Manage the change intake process and maintain an organizational view of field-facing change initiatives to prevent change fatigue and ensure the volume of change doesn't exceed organizational capacity
    • Provide guidance to partners on the best timing to implement a change based on other change initiatives impacting an audience
    • Provide regular status updates to leadership on the change portfolio and progress of key initiatives
  • Continuously improve Change Management team processes and tools to improve both team efficiency and effectiveness of change management practices
  • Assess effectiveness of change tactics and use feedback loops to continuously adapt tactics to the intended audience

Team Management and Other Accountabilities:

  • Lead and coach Change Management Consultants through proactive career development and continuous feedback loop
  • Create an inclusive and engaging team environment ensure high overall employee engagement
  • Managing individual and/or team issues and escalating where appropriate
  • Actively promote Retail Advice and Solution brand to attract talent and external partners
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and policy requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • Change Management certification or designation, e.g. Prosci Certification, Association of Change Manage Professional (ACMP) or Change Management Institute (CMI) preferred or equivalent experience
  • University degree in business or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management and / or other financial services
  • Proven track record in successfully leading execution of change management functions for programs and projects
  • Ability to influence partners at all levels, often without authority
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage and coach team members to help them grow and develop.
  • Very high level of professionalism with field leaders, advisors, and partners
  • Organized with a natural inclination for flexibility in an agile environment
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
