As the Manager, Communications you will contribute to the overall success of Insurance Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of business line strategies and objectives. You will also ensure all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

In this role, you will support all internal communications, and some external communication initiatives as required, including Insurance Canada's communication strategy, channels, processes, content, planning, development, editing, execution and reporting. You will work closely with internal partners to determine new and innovative ways to communicate business materials that maximize employee engagement and effective change management.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the creative development, editing and execution of high impact, visual and engaging communications for audiences

  • Develop clear, appropriate communication and materials for employees and partners to support implementation of business line initiatives, enterprise initiatives, marketing campaigns, etc.

  • Develop and contribute to innovative internal communication approaches and tactics that engage employees through a variety of channels (i.e. SharePoint, shared email addresses, Viva Engage, etc.)

  • Support the Director, Strategic Initiatives in developing communication materials and presentations for Insurance Canada executives

  • Manage and continually improve the Insurance Canada Employee Resources Centre (on SharePoint) to strengthen a user self-serve approach with current, up-to-date content

  • Influence communication approaches and timing for internal Insurance Canada and partner communications, ensuring the most effective approaches are used to maximum employee consumption of information

  • Support planning and execution of Insurance Canada Town Halls, including logistics, agenda creation, identification and prepping of guest speakers, creating the presentation deck, etc.

  • Share best practices with other Communications teams to support the development of a best-in-class function

  • Develop collaborative relationships with Insurance Canada teams, Canadian Banking Communications, key partners and corporate functions to ensure alignment

  • Create and execute project plans and workback schedules to ensure employees are supported through changes and optimal sequencing of key deliverables are aligned with partners

  • Engage partners and workstream leads to ensure key deliverables and milestones are met on time and within budget

  • Coordinate activities and liaise with team members to ensure objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframes

  • Address and solve problems that arise and/or escalate them to leadership to ensure issues are addressed quickly and effectively

  • Develop collaborative relationships with partners to ensure initiatives are launched and sustained through an effective change management plan

  • Support creative for Scotiabank Live banners, infographics, initiatives and events

  • Manage and update distribution lists to ensure target audiences are included in communications, calendar invitations, etc.

  • Manage the Insurance Canada communication calendar by connecting with partners frequently to ensure a planful approach to communications and training impacting the field

  • Manage Insurance Canada and partner communications to ensure an optimum approach delivery and timelines of communication are provided to employes and partners, without overloading them with information

  • Recommend and implement tactics to increase readership and adoption of SharePoint and Viva Engage platforms

  • Embrace a high-performance environment and have an exceptional ability to work in partnership to influence positive outcomes

  • Champion a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary education specializing in Communications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to build and maintain key relationships, with strong influencing capabilities

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to effectively manage tactical planning and implementation

  • Strong proficiency using MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel, for a variety of communications, reporting and general informative activities

  • Knowledge of communication trends and best practices to being "outside-in" thinking to the Insurance Canada team

  • Comfortability working in a hybrid work environment
