What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Communications will be accountable for supporting the RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) business through planning, developing, directing and enhancing internal communications and employee engagement related activities, while also providing support to various external communications initiatives. This position will work closely with partners across all RBC GAM businesses globally as well as Human Resources and other functional partners across the RBC enterprise to help RBC GAM employees stay informed, collaborate and thrive in their careers. This will include writing, researching, editing, designing and distributing content, and managing employee-facing communications platforms (e.g., intranet, announcements, newsletters, videos, emails, events) that contribute to an inclusive, engaging and supportive work environment.

What will you do?

  • Under the oversight of the Director, Communications, be responsible for writing, editing, researching, managing and publishing content on RBC GAM's intranet

  • Develop internal, executive and HR-driven communications, with a focus on supporting RBC GAM's global business and functional priorities as well as driving company culture, collaboration and employee engagement

  • Write, research, edit and update a broad range of communications collateral (e.g., web content, executive messages, presentations, newsletters, event invitations, reports, articles, presentations)

  • Design banners, images, videos and other digital collateral for newsletters, intranet articles, events, employee engagement initiatives and other communications

  • Support various external communications activities including monitoring media coverage, and developing and distributing press releases

  • Working in collaboration with RBC HR and Learning partners, develop and expand employee- and manager-focused professional development resources, events and activities

  • Support other members of the RBC GAM Communications team, as well as other Communications teams across RBC, on a range of initiatives and projects (executive messaging, internal communications, website content, employee engagement and event communications support)

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree required - strongly preferred in communications, journalism or marketing, with 5+ years of relevant work experience in a corporate environment

  • Strong written, editorial and verbal communication skills; proven ability to independently develop high-quality written communications and presentation materials from origination/concept through to publication

  • Demonstrated experience managing digital content and using web publishing tools, as well as competency in using digital design tools (e.g., Photoshop/InDesign)

  • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail

  • Experience managing projects and working with executive stakeholders

  • Sound judgement and critical thinking; ability to work independently and on tight deadline; team oriented and collaborative

Nice-to-have

  • Strongly preferred that candidates demonstrate knowledge of the Canadian financial services industry; experience or knowledge of asset management / investments (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, services and trends) is an asset

  • Experience with Adobe, OpenText, Sharepoint, Poppulo

  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
