What is the opportunity?

This Manager will support the RBC Wealth Management Canada communications team, providing support on internal and external communications for various Wealth Management Canada business lines, including RBC Investor Services, RBC Dominion Securities, RBC Royal Trust.

The Manager will help develop and execute on communications activities designed to engage employees, drive understanding of business goals, enhance brand value and manage reputational risk.

Working closely with business stakeholders and functional partners across Communications and Marketing, the Manager will contribute to creative internal storytelling, producing and managing intranet content, promoting Wealth Management businesses internally across RBC, and supporting always-on media relations initiatives. The Manager will support the team on day-to-day communications needs such as employee events, leader messaging, HR-driven communications and the production of research, reporting, and analytics.

What will you do?

  • Promote business priorities and successes internally through creative storytelling, including writing internal newsletters, employee profiles and business updates for intranets and social channels.
  • Maintain a robust internal content calendar that aligns to business priorities and engages employees.
  • Manage intranet platforms, including the production of editorial content, scheduling and site maintenance.
  • Working with the team, support media relations activities and tactics (story ideas, news releases, media pitches, monitoring/analytics).
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders / business leaders and work collaboratively with key internal partners to enhance the profile of Wealth Management businesses across RBC.
  • Prepare speaking remarks, emails, quarterly notes, presentations and other communications materials for senior leaders in Wealth Management and materials for regional and global employee events, including invitations, agendas, presentation decks and follow-up surveys.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in journalism, public relations, communications or related studies
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in media relations, employee communications and social media programs
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with experience writing media materials, pitches, blog/LinkedIn posts, presentation decks, speaking notes, creating videos, employee-facing articles, etc.
  • Experience managing online / intranet content (writing, posting, editing, maintenance).
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to provide clear and concise communications counsel
  • Experience using storytelling concepts to engage audiences and bring topics to life.
  • Ability to meet consistently high standards of quality while handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have

  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Knowledge of financial services / wealth management industry
  • Experience working within a large / global matrixed organization
  • Experience with digital design tools (e.g., Photoshop / Canva), content management systems and video editing software
