What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Compensation Governance is an integral member of the Compensation Governance team. This role will work closely with various stakeholders, including senior management, HR, Finance and Law/Compliance, and provide support to the various Compensation Governance Committees. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of compensation governance policies and procedures.

What will you do?

  • Governance Support: Provide support to the Compensation Governance Committees, including preparing meeting materials, taking minutes, setting agendas, scheduling guests and following up on action items.
  • Compensation Policy Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of compensation policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze compensation data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Support the monitoring system in place to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as tax laws, securities laws, and employment standards.
  • Communication: Develop and deliver communications to employees, management, and the Board of Directors on compensation-related matters.
  • Project Management: Manage projects related to compensation governance, such as coordinating the preparation of public disclosures and regulatory implementations.
  • Research and Benchmarking: Conduct research and benchmarking to stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure alignment and consistency in compensation practices, supporting ongoing and ad hoc initiatives, as necessary.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in HR, business, risk, compliance, audit, finance or regulatory.
  • Strong project management skills with sound judgment on when to escalate, negotiate or be flexible.
  • Previous exposure to regulatory implementation, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills suitable for senior-level audiences.
  • Previous experience working on cross-functional initiatives, and/or shows adaptability having worked in different departments.
  • Highly collaborative and enjoys working in a team environment.
  • Working experience with Excel spreadsheets and functions to analyze data.

Nice-to-have:

  • 2-5 years of experience in compensation, benefits, or a related field.
  • Experience with HR and compensation software, such as Workday or SAP.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as tax laws, securities laws, and employment standards.
  • Process improvement mindset and a sense of curiosity.
