Job Summary

The Manager, HEF Credit Risk Analytics will support the Senior Manager of Consumer Portfolio Management and the Portfolio Management & Credit Strategy (PM&CS) team in managing portfolio health with a focus on Home Equity Financing (HEF) Products and identifying trends, developing insights and making recommendations on performance and loss forecast.

What is the opportunity?

The Manager, HEF Credit Risk Analytics will support the Senior Manager of Consumer Portfolio Management and the Portfolio Management & Credit Strategy (PM&CS) team in managing portfolio health with a focus on Home Equity Financing (HEF) Products and identifying trends, developing insights and making recommendations on performance and loss forecast.

What will you do?

  • Use data to generate insights and support HEF portfolio analytics across the entire credit value chain and identify trends that support recommendations on acquisition, performance and loss forecast.

  • Deliver timely and accurate analytics by:
    • Understanding business and regulatory reporting needs
    • Establishing analytical framework
    • Performing all manner of data mining activities, including data validation
    • Summarizing findings
    • Communicating to stakeholders
  • Integrate measures into existing reports
  • Develop and execute routines to measure and monitor effectiveness of policy and process changes to determine success and make adjustment recommendations where required
  • Ongoing portfolio monitoring and commentary and provide regular performance updates to stakeholders - which includes HEF Business Partners, OSFI, Finance and Enterprise Risk
  • Support PM&CS initiatives, analytics, and adhoc requests as required
  • Partner with teammates to design incisive and meaningful risk-monitoring measures used to maintain overall portfolio quality
  • Have shared responsibility for building, validating, and automating new metrics and reports
  • Assist with researching and enhancing automation methodologies
  • Participate actively in the exchange of knowledge relating to products, data and analytical methodology
  • Manage daily workflow, resolve conflicting priorities and negotiate deliverables with minimum supervision
  • Promote and share best practices with teammates
  • Champion a positive, trusting and satisfying work climate
  • Understand and share RBC Personal Financing Products strategic priorities

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Degree in Engineering, Statistics or other quantitative field of study

  • Significant experience with:

    • Advanced SQL skills
    • Strong Python/SAS or equivalent programming experience
    • Expert in MS Excel and ability to create effective PowerPoint presentations
    • Effective and conversant in business and technical environment
    • Proven analytical skills
    • Good understanding of consumer behaviour and credit risk
  • Collaborative and supportive attitude
  • Creative thinker
  • Strong Attention to detail

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of Teradata, DB2, Oracle

  • Familiarity with Tableau, R languages

  • Working knowledge of consumer credit products

  • Experience in credit risk
