This role will help drive forward the global markets lines of business and the growth and expansion strategies. Our goal is to continue to providing effective partnership to our business stakeholders and an optimal service delivery to our clients.

We are looking for subject matter experts in one or more of the following asset classes: Interest Rate Derivatives, Equity Derivatives, Commodities and Metals.

Experienced in delivering change initiatives, small scale and large scale.

The team within Capital Markets Operations is organized to support aligned functions and lines of business. The OTC Derivative Confirmations team focuses on the following:

  • Providing end to end confirmation and trade matching capability for Capital Markets Businesses and Products
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the confirmation process, including initiating drafting, matching, completing reconciliations and providing financial and audit attestations.
  • Ensuring appropriate confirmation and regulatory policies and best practices are followed
  • Performing complex analysis and investigations
  • Leading the identification and implementation of process and control improvements
  • Ensuring the readiness of operational processes for new product initiatives, system implementations or upgrades
  • Participating in change initiatives performing requirements gathering, process design, system testing and post-implementation reviews
  • Partnering with Front Office, Finance, Risk and Controls, Trade Support, Profit and Loss, Project Delivery, Technology and Operations to enhance end-to-end process and controls.

As the OTC Derivatives Confirmation Manager, the candidate will be primarily responsible and accountable to;

  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
  • Develops and manages a business/group program.
  • Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required.
  • Employs systems (e.g. customized exception reports, tracking reports etc.) to manage information.
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Fulfill routine and frequently non-routine transactions, internal business partner and/or external customer inquiries/requests, and/or audit/reconciliation activities.
  • Analyzes and resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively in accordance with Bank and industry standards. Act as primary back-up to team members and as back-up to the manager.
  • Evaluates circumstances requiring exceptions and engages senior management for resolution where required.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Participates/leads process/system continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identifies business needs, designs/develops tools and training programs; may include delivery of training to audiences.
  • May acts as the day to day contact for vendors; supports the implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of vendor solutions.
  • Follows documented policies and procedures to execute day to day transactions, activities, processes and ensure all Service Level Agreements(SLAs) are met. Checks and reconciles information and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Identifies and analyzes issues and problems, and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner. Deals with clients directly to resolve issues and/or escalates as required.
  • Communicates and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal & external stakeholders to execute work and fulfill service delivery expectations.

  • Understands the regulatory requirements and risks inherent in the operations and ensures appropriate actions are taken and operational integrity is maintained.
  • Collaborates in development/implementation of new processes/systems and changes/improvements to existing systems and processes.

  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

    Qualifications:

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience using relevant systems and technology - In-depth.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business unit's key products and services, processes and controls
  • Knowledge of the risk and regulatory requirements of the business - In-depth.
  • Prior experience in financial services industry with a focus on Capital Markets and specifically operations/confirmations would be an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant ISDA definitions and their application preferred
  • Knowledge of the risk and regulatory requirements of the business
  • Extensive knowledge of interest rate, commodity, metals, Carbon and/or equity OTC derivative products
  • Extensive knowledge of the product life cycle and respective operational functions related to derivatives
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business unit's key products and services, processes and controls - In-depth.
  • Knowledge of the risk and regulatory requirements of the business - In-depth.

Salary:

$68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
