We are looking for a Manager, Risk and Compliance Management to join BrokerLink, and work out of our Alberta, Ontario or Atlantic Region, on a Permanent FT Basis.

As a Manager, Risk and Compliance Management, you will have the opportunity to use your influencing and critical thinking skills to build effective business partner relationships. You will provide consultation and independent challenge to ensure operational risks and compliance risks are identified and sufficiently mitigated through a prudent and methodological approach.

What the Role Entails:

  • Execute the risk management and compliance program and keep enhancing its maturity while ensuring the use of tools and technologies that maximise efficiency.
  • Oversee the support provided to business units in the identification, assessment, monitoring and mitigation of their risks.
  • Review and challenge of risk management activities in an effective manner.
  • Coordinate, support, and challenge risk & control assessments.
  • Ensure proper incident management and resolution, including any lessons learned through further analysis.
  • Maintain our risk and compliance policies and risk appetite framework.
  • Advise on potential changes to processes and suggest any further mitigating action.
  • Ensure coordination between the lines of defense related to operational risks and promote appropriate information sharing across and within.
  • Lead the development and implementation of analytics and risk reporting capability.
  • Engage stakeholders to promote a strong risk and compliance culture and ensure proper training and support on risk and compliance processes and tools.
  • Provide leadership, training, motivation, coaching and evaluation to the operational risk management team.
  • Support the Risk and Compliance Director with risk reporting cycle to the quarterly Compliance and Operational Risk Committee.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of risk management experience as part of the second line of defense. Other combinations of experience in risk management, compliance, internal/ external audit, control development or testing, corporate oversight and initiatives etc. may be considered.
  • Proven track record in collaborating with a variety of teams, across functions and
    geography, exerting influence and solving problems efficiently across reporting lines.
  • Knowledge of insurance brokerage operations and related risks and opportunities.
  • A desire for high performance and ability to make an impact.
  • A solutions-oriented mindset, critical thinking and professional judgement proficiency and strong aptitude for decision making.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing, conflict resolution and stakeholder relationship building and management skills.
  • Proven written communication skills - the ability to articulate key messages concisely and effectively.
  • Confidence interacting with senior management and understanding of/ experience working within the three lines of defense model.
  • High level of engagement, authenticity, and accountability.
