Job Description:

This role is within Sun Life Global Investment's (SLGI) Risk, Governance and Controls team, which is a 1st line of defense function supporting SLGI overall governance framework. The Regulatory Reporting team supports SLGI's adherence to regulatory requirements with a focus on reporting to SLGI's Independent Review Committee (IRC), administration of IRC meetings, management of regulatory filings and support the Record Management and Business Continuity Programs for SLGI.

The Manager, Risk Governance, Regulatory Reporting will provide support with respect to accountabilities relating to SLGI's IRC, records management and business continuity planning. They will also be responsible to manage the renewal of SLGI's offering documents and filing of amendments to the Simplified Prospectus and Fund Facts as they relate to product changes.

The Manager, Risk Governance, Regulatory Reporting will work closely with Compliance, Legal, Product, Portfolio Management and Finance teams.

This role will report to the Director, Risk Governance, Regulatory Reporting and offers the flexibility of a hybrid work style.

What will you do?

  • Assist the Director, Risk Governance, Regulatory Reporting with the administration of the Independent Review Committee (IRC) and required reporting; such responsibilities will include but not be limited to collecting supporting information from various stakeholders and preparing reporting for the IRC.

  • Manage the renewal of SLGI's Simplified Prospectus, Fund Facts, Annual Information Form for prospectus-exempt funds and ad-hoc amendment filings to support product changes.

  • Support with various responsibilities relating to Business Continuity Planning, such as review and reporting on the results of call tree tests and updates to the Business Continuity Plan.

  • Responsible to develop and/or maintain the team's operating procedures;

  • Assist with various activities, including responsibilities related to the identification, assessment and mitigation of conflicts of interest (NI 31-103 and NI 81-107);

  • Assist with the Records retention program and internal testing engagements for SLGI;

  • Provide functional support to the Director, Risk Governance for various other regulatory reporting duties, as delegated.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 7-10 years of related work experience in the Mutual Fund industry;

  • Honest, ethical and trustworthy attitude;

  • Great working knowledge of NI 81-107, NI 81-101 and NI 31-103;

  • Strong time management, organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills;

  • Confident handling a diverse range of responsibilities;

  • Great attention to details, pro-active and self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively prioritize in a diverse and fast paced environment;

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred skills:

  • Compliance or legal background and/or experience in a control function;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements as they impact business activities, knowledge of the regulatory environment, including challenges and upcoming trends.

  • Can-do attitude and win-win mentality; adaptable personality with strong relationship management skills and genuine desire to continually learn and make a positive impact.

  • Professional designation such as MBA/CFA/CA is an asset.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
