Working within the Control Functions (CF) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) team, you will focus on advancing inclusion by supporting the development and execution of a DEI strategy. Ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. You will provide coordination of key department initiatives, execution of administrative and communication activities, while ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders. You have a proven track record as a highly collaborative, organized and results oriented professional who can deepen strategic partnerships and leverage broader Bank stakeholders, systems, and knowledge. You are passionate about cultural transformation and driving organizational change. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with the governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

You will be responsible for supporting the Director, DEI to advance the Control Functions (Audit, Compliance & AML, Finance, Global Risk Management and Legal & Corporate Affairs) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for key initiatives and programs in support of advancing inclusion for employees from equity deserving groups. The Manager is responsible for the assessment, monitoring and measurement of all activities conducted to ensure compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

  • Program management, execution and support of new and key Global DEI Mentorship and Sponsorship Programs.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Support the Director, DEI with the development, implementation and sustainment of key Global Control Functions DEI strategy and initiatives to support the advancement, retention, and development of employees from equity deserving groups.
  • Support the analysis and reporting of global DEI data and analyze the effectiveness of DEI initiatives against the CF DEI strategy.
  • Facilitates and conducts training sessions (as required) and measures the impact of initiatives through data analysis.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with peers within various business lines collaborate with these stakeholders to provide support including identifying issues, developing solutions, and escalating appropriately when necessary.
  • Support Director, DEI with ongoing interaction with regional DEI councils and ERG Regional Leads to support with strengthening the Control Functions DEI team global partnerships.
  • Facilitates HR DEI regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. Employment Equity Narrative Report) in support of Scotiabank compliance requirements.
  • Partner with multiple internal stakeholders from across the bank, to gather, consolidate, and execution on requests for more information for external client facing requests, pertaining to DEI.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program partnerships, external partnerships, and sponsorships activation by coordinating the Bank's engagement with special events and day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure risks and dependencies are mitigated and that teams are unblocked and can effectively complete their work.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources, Business or Communications.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in HR or a related field.
  • Able to learn about key global trends in diversity, equity & inclusion, employee engagement, talent management and/or human resources.
  • Strong implementation/project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills to develop and maintain effective partnering relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and priority setting skills.
  • Solid knowledge of computer systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Social Media platforms).
  • Intellectual curiosity around 'best-in-class' practices (inside and outside the Bank).
