We are looking for a dynamic, customer focused payroll specialist to administer end to end payroll for our 1600+ employees and support HR Operations across TMX Group. This role is a key player within our HR Operations team and works closely with departments across the organization including finance, audit and our operational business units to ensure accuracy and streamline operations with a client-centric focus.
Working collaboratively with our partners, it is instrumental in providing consultation and guidance to pay employees accurately and timely as our workforce continues to evolve. You will be equipped to develop subject matter expertise on payroll capabilities within our HRIS, Workday, providing recommendations on ways to leverage technology and promote best practices to reduce costs and streamline efficiencies throughout the payroll cycle. In addition, you will have the opportunity to optimize the benefit administration processes.
Key Accountabilities:
Payroll (80%)
Process semi-monthly pay for salaried and hourly employees within our HRIS, Workday
Process pay adjustments for terminations, leaves (i.e. parental top up), stock option exercise and RSU/PSU payouts, hourly to salaried conversions
Ensure accuracy of ROE's for processing by third party
Work with third party providers in the US and UK to ensure payroll changes (new hires, terminations, adjustments) are accurately reflected
Assist Finance with balancing payroll accounts to the GL
Year end processing of T4's and Releve l's, Quebec taxable benefits and Pension adjustments as well as ongoing proofing and balancing
Proofing and balancing payroll register against CRA and Revenue Quebec tax accounts
Prepares government required remittances and reports (e.g. EHT, CSST, BC Health etc.)
Provide consulting and advice on complex matters requiring extensive knowledge of payroll policies, procedures and federal & provincial legislation(s)
Support internal and external auditors and outside government agencies as the need arises
Provide communication to employees regarding payroll policies, procedures, updates, and deadlines
Collaborate with the team to exchange ideas and strategize to continuously improve the processes
Assist on special projects as needed
HR Operations (20%)
Lead all aspects of the DC pension contributions to ensure federal maximums are not exceeded
Manage the flow of required information from payroll to our equity plan management vendor, Shareworks
Monitor payroll integration file errors from Sun Life & Shareworks to ensure DC Pension & Employee Share Purchase Plan contributions are reflected accurately
Provide Ad Hoc reporting to Finance for tax filings and budget projections
Find opportunities to streamline benefit administration through technology
Assist on special projects as needed
Must haves:
Postsecondary education in business or accounting is preferred, with relevant work experience
5 years of full cycle payroll administration experience within a mid-large size organization (1,000+ employees in multiple locations)
Working experience processing payroll with an automated payroll system (Workday, Cloudpay, Deel, etc.)
Outstanding organizational skills and very detail oriented
Proficient in Excel; including pivot tables, v-lookups, and other data organization functions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to haves:
PCP/CPM designation or equivalent
Bilingual (French) will be an asset
Note: Hybrid role, 2 days in the Toronto Office
