Job Description:

This is a 12-months fixed term position.

The Programmer Analyst as a member of the Individual Sales Systems team is accountable for working with business partners and providing consulting, data analytics and responsible for the programming life cycle including analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the computer applications.

What will you do?

  • Consult with business partners as data experts to build the bridge between systems and define business requirements, providing them with an agile and dynamic consumable analytics of data
  • Design, construct, test, document, and implement new or existing applications
  • Work closely with the Senior Programmer through the conversion of existing applications on non-supported technology
  • Provide ongoing support of production applications and systems including problem analysis, resolution, escalation, and reporting as necessary
  • Support IT protocols for the AY system including on-call and disaster recovery
  • Accountable for completing or directing the work flow through the sales systems & reporting analytics team inbox

What will you need to succeed?

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain successful relationships with business partners
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills by providing systematic solutions in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a strong team player
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle several tasks efficiently
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data and offer creative solutions
  • Strong knowledge of SAS, JCL, ZEKE, VBA, SQL, MS Query, Microsoft Office
  • Mainframe application knowledge with DB2, IMS, SPF

What will be nice to have?

  • University degree in Computer Science or College Computer Science diploma
  • 3+ years of experience as a programmer analyst
  • Knowledge of insurance and wealth products as is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
