Job Description:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a driven and ambitious sales coach and leader to drive results with one of the most forward-looking asset management firms in Canada. This leadership role works within wealth distribution under the brand of Sun Life Global Investments. What will you do:

Located in Toronto, the Regional Vice President (RVP), Central Canada (Ontario), Wholesale Distribution role is a key position within Sun Life Global Investments. The RVP role is accountable for the management of the regional sales team consisting of external and internal wholesalers responsible for the achievement of the regional sales targets among the multi-channel distribution strategy for SLGI in Central Canada. They will be responsible for in-field sales coaching while increasing the productivity of each territory. The product suite features SLGI's lineup of leading mutual funds, SMA, segregated funds and payout annuities. Frequent travel is required.

Main Accountabilities:

  • The RVP role is responsible to in-field sales coaching across Central Canada.
  • The RVP role is critical in executing the strategic direction for the firm, and the sales team's alignment to this strategy through consistent and effective coaching and business planning.
  • The RVP role is responsible for the achievement of the assigned regional and territorial gross and net sales targets. They lead, motivate and coach their direct reports in both 1:1 and group settings, analyze data/reporting, stay current on industry trends and the competitive landscape, network and help build relationships within the industry, and work closely with all internal stakeholders among sales, compliance, national accounts, training, marketing and product teams.
  • Promote SLGI's Value Proposition within the Central region in line with overall SLGI strategic business plan.
  • Team Building: Hire, develop and motivate the regional sales team in various roles including Wealth Sales Directors (WSD), Wealth Sales Representatives (WSR), and Wealth Sales Coordinators (WSC) and other roles that may apply from time to time
  • Budget and Expense Management

What do you need to succeed:

  • 10 years experience in a senior management position within the Financial Services industry plus and previous asset management and insured wealth solutions experience. Prior wholesaling experience is recommended.
  • Proven effective strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to address issues strategically and execute operationally
  • The ability to influence and interact with all levels of the organization is key
  • Possess a deep understanding of cultural and business differences within the Central Region
  • An in-depth understanding of financial service needs from wealth accumulation through wealth preservation.
  • Strong knowledge of all wealth products and sales processes
  • Extensive knowledge of Wealth Management industry, our competitors and their products and services, including market segmentation and trends
  • Proven networking and communication skills, able to effectively communicate with financial advisors
  • Strong presentation skills (including use of technology), ability to think and respond quickly, able to adapt to change within a rapidly growing and complex area of personal financial services
  • One or more professional designation in financial services is recommended i.e., MBA, CFA, CFP, CIM

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
