The Canadian Banking (CB) Expense Management team's objective is to manage expenses through strategic, insightful and timely financial analysis in a continuously changing environment. To support our stakeholders expenses are managed in a matrix view, by expense category and CB's business lines (Retail, Automotive Lending, Small business and Commercial Banking). Our primary stakeholders are the Finance and CB Business Line's executive leadership team.

The Senior Analyst will contribute to the success of the team's objective by working with the manager/senior manager in providing accurate, detailed and timely expense analytics. Inclusive of planning, forecasting, reporting and ad hoc requests. Critical to our team's success is openness to and the ability to drive change. As such, the Senior Analyst is expected to identify areas of opportunity and provide assistance on change driving projects - such as allocation model and the team's internal change management initiatives

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the consolidation and analysis of CB's non-interest expense reporting, forecasting, and planning processes:
  • Support the timely delivery of forecasts and profit plans, including: Post-quarter forecasts, Pre-quarter forecasts, Quarter End reasonability, Stress Testing, and Annual Profit plan
  • Coordinate with business lines and support groups to provide a complete and accurate CB Business to Business and Support Group allocation analysis, as well as assist in identifying key trends and variances
  • Independently roll forward reports and models required the complete the consolidation of Non-Interest Expense (NIE) with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Independently roll forward executive reports included in the forecasting/ plan deck, blue book and monthly distribution with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Ensure applicable Model's reflect account line item or organizational restructure for each reporting/ forecasting/plan cycle and to ensure all updates are reflected in the forecasting systems (Hyperion and PLOT)
  • Support the maintenance of applicable Model's and mapping files
  • Main administrator for CB planning & forecasting systems such as closing/opening transits and adding/deleting users
  • Assist in change management projects & ad hoc reporting
  • Support in detailed data and operating process validation
  • Support in building reporting requirements by mapping financial data from operating systems (e.g. OBI/EGL, Hyperion, Zero-Based Budgeting, NIE)
  • Support build out of complement reporting
  • Become one of the subject matter experts for training and responding to inquiries from the business line finance teams

  • Highly flexible and strong ability to multi-task to be able to strive in a continuously changing environment with rigorous deadlines with accuracy and completeness
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Oracle, Smartview, and Hyperion.
  • A solid understanding of financial and management reporting principles; very knowledgeable of the Bank's products, operations and procedures
  • Strong communication skills (listening, documentation, and presentation skills) and organization skills to effectively assist in coordinating information with business lines and support teams
  • Highly analytical, strong problem-solving skills and detailed oriented to assist in strategic financial analysis
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of, or working towards CPA or CFA is preferred
