Senior Associate - Credit Monitoring, Control & Documentation

What is the opportunity?

As Senior Associate, Credit Monitoring, Control & Documentation, you will be responsible for assisting the credit management functions in support of the US Wealth Management regional loan portfolio, including ensuring that the bank's credit risk monitoring and control activities are sufficient to safeguard the bank's lending activities, as well as assisting in all aspects of legal documentation and review pertaining to credit transactions.

What will you do?

  • Review and process new Credit Access Lines, and amendments to existing lines
  • Oversee and perform critical functions such as manage overdrafts and past due interest, and ensure loan-to-value percentages are applied in the collateral management systems.
  • Ensure credit facilities are properly input and recorded in systems, and participate in Credit Management projects to improve the data integrity of credit reporting
  • Prepare and process loan documents and ensure the integrity of information based on RBC's standard for new credits and changes/updates to existing credits.
  • Conduct / ensure review of entity documentation for trusts, corporations, LLCs, partnerships, or other borrowing entities and ensure proper filing and maintenance of credit and documentation files.
  • Assist with producing and distributing reports to senior management as required by local regulators, policies, guidelines or standing instructions/requests
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the credit management processes and work and participate as needed in relevant business and risk initiatives/projects.

** Please note that this role supports an US market business and will be required to cover work for the Canadian Statutory holidays.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Degree/diploma from an accredited university in Finance, Business, Economics or related experience in credit portfolio management and collateral monitoring
  • Prior credit administration, credit monitoring, report reconcilement and loan documentation experience
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and adaptability in considerations of a growing and changing business and regulatory environment
  • Computer skills with advanced knowledge of computing systems and spreadsheets (formulas and calculations) and ability to learn and adapt to in-house credit and other workflow systems
  • Experience in a fast-paced high-volume environment
  • Exhibits High Level of Internal and External Client Service
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Accurately defines problems and identifies relevant factors while objectively considering alternatives and anticipating the client impact of possible solutions

Nice to Have

  • Strong understanding of Wealth Management credit business including inter-relationships between the business, functions and Group Risk Management
  • Good understanding of internal credit systems such as CCMS, CreditLink, CoMS, FIS and RIBS would be an advantage
  • Proven experience with and understanding of Private Client and High Net Worth (HNW) credit business
