What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will: • provide strategic fiscal/financial and/or program/policy advisory services for the development and implementation of transformation initiatives • recommend options and identify risks for the development of plans • identify problems arising from fiscal/financial analysis and policy/program reviews, and provide recommendations to senior management, the Minister and Cabinet Committees • conduct inter-jurisdictional scans and analyses to support the determination of strategic financial priorities • provide support and advice on the interpretation and application of financial management and evidence-based decision-making principles and practices • make recommendations regarding performance metrics and the development of performance measures
How do I qualify?
Knowledge of Finance
• You have demonstrated knowledge of the theory, principles and methodologies of public finance and business administration as they relate to fiscal/financial and policy/program development principles/techniques • You have demonstrated knowledge of fiscal/financial and accounting principles, policies and processes, including evidence-based scenario development and the use of financial management frameworks
Policy and Program Skills
• You can interpret and apply complex legislation, policies, standards, processes, practices and priorities relating to business planning, budgeting, fiscal/financial management and related areas • You have knowledge of financial operations and fiscal/financial policy development principles and techniques • You have an understanding of government decision-making processes/structures including the role of central agencies and line ministries
Relationship Management, Consultation and Communication Skills
• You have excellent communication, interpersonal, consultation and advisory skills to provide expert advice and convey complex technical information • You have strong relationship management, persuasion and influencing skills • You demonstrate political acuity, diplomacy and tact to deal with high-profile issues in a sensitive environment • You have strong facilitation and presentation skills to provide education and training • You can prepare a wide range of written materials including reports, presentations and recommendations
Project Management, Leadership and Organizational Skills
• You have knowledge of project management theory, practices and techniques to support the coordination of strategic projects/initiatives • You have demonstrated leadership and organizational skills to provide guidance, training and mentoring to staff and project teams • You can work under tight time pressures and deal with multiple deliverables with competing deadlines
Risk and Issues Management Skills
